I have listened to all of Mr. Follett’s works available on Audible and thoroughly enjoyed each one – until now. The storyline and “historical” events in Edge of Eternity weave a tired narrative of progressives struggling to overcome evil conservatives. If your recollection of history lumps Joseph Stalin, Ronald Regan, and George H. W. Bush together as “mass murders” and if you believe the only man or woman deserving any credit for the fall of the Berlin Wall is Mikhail Gorbachev, than you’ll find Mr. Follett’s tale a walk down memory lane. However, if like me you were alive during the Stalin era and have been paying attention since those days, you’ll know that just because Mr. Follett wrote it, doesn’t make it so.
An earlier reviewer noted that had this been the first Follett novel they had read, it would have been their last. While I can’t “unread” and perhaps more sadly “unbuy” earlier Follett works, I won’t be on “Edge for Eternity” waiting for the next one.
David Kirtpatrick's account of the formation of Facebook was interesting, informative, and a fun read; however, David's narration was nothing short of disgusting. While he has a very good listening voice, his constant swallowing, sniffling, and "mouth noises" are distracting in the extreme. David needs to either correct this or get someone else to read his works...PLEASE!!!
