Robert Littell creates a multigenerational, wickedly nostalgic saga of the ClA - "The Company" to insiders. The fictional and historical characters of Robert Littell's novel reveal much of the nearly 50 years of this complex and powerful organization. At the heart is a mole hunt involving the CIA, M16, KGB, and Mossad, a stunningly conceived trip down the rabbit hole to the labyrinthine Alice-in-Wonderland world of espionage, a "world where things have no names".

Caryl says: "Narration good, story complex held my interest"
    "Good Story"
    Overall

Great if you want the history of the CIA. Detailed and interesting and involved.

Kenneth Ewald has what it takes to win the presidency: the support of his party, a lovely wife, a dynamic campaign. What neither he nor any candidate needs is a corpse. He knows only one man capable of solving a crime, clearing his son, putting his campaign back on track and catching a killer: his best friend Mac Smith. Oddly enough, it was Mac and his dog Rufus who found the body in the first place.

This was a very well written book. It was also very well narrated and kept my attention the entire time.

Now, more than a decade later, with the Gesto file still on his desk, Bosch gets a call from the district attorney. A man accused of two heinous murders is willing to come clean about several others, including the killing of Marie Gesto.

An FBI undercover operation gone bad convinces Rae Gabriella to move near her hometown and work as a private investigator with another former agent. But the small town of Justice, Illinois, is not as safe as she thinks. Attractive and stylish young women, just like Rae, are quietly dropping dead in their hotel rooms, with money and valuables still untouched. When the next victim turns up just a few rooms away from Rae's hotel room, the grieving parents hire her to investigate.

    Daisy says: "Before I wake"
    "Not just a mystery story"
    Overall

The story isn't bad but it's interspersed with many religious references - mostly conservative protestant ones - so if you are not interested in your listening to be in that genre as I am not, then do not buy this one.

When CIA "fixer" Micah Dalton's friend and mentor turns up dead, he's put on a collision course with a killer who has a penchant for intricate knife-work and Native American mysticism, a sadist who is killing ex-CIA agents. The victims are hard-nosed field men whose only link to one another seems to be a global surveillance operation called Echelon. The murders appear to be acts of retribution. But for what?

    Carmela08 says: "Excellent spy tale"
    "Long and complex"
    Overall

Long and complex are not necessarily bad and this one is interesting as it jumps from Italy to all over the US. However I found it needlessly draw out in some parts and the author's habit of using endless descriptive paragraphs for each little thing made the book much longer than the story called for.
