Written in the mid 1880's by Friedrich Nietzsche, Thus Spoke Zarathustra is a critically-acclaimed work centered around the "death of God" and the rise of a superhuman. A philosophical and moral examination of good versus evil, divine versus mortal, and power versus submission are all encapsulated in the musings of Zarathustra. Zarathustra's doctrine is the idea of eternal recurrence, which claims that all events repeat themselves.

Thus Spoke Zarathrustra was one of those books I hated reading in Western Civ decades ago in college, and I really hoped by being an adult I would find more in it to like, and to be honest I have no desire to try it a 3rd time. The material to me is just wrong. BUT this audible version is a good listen, I lover the narrators voice it makes Nietzsche's words sound good. I recommend this not for the book, but the reading is fantastic even if the author starts with a flawed premise and never convinces, me the reader, that he was right.

I had hoped to find my dream career even though I am a disabled woman facing retirement. But this good gave some general great ideas if you are looking at stepping out on your own and you have the ability to take the right steps from the beginning. Each job is broken down into what skills you need, what education you might need, tools you will need up front, licensing, how to find perspective clients and what kind of money you should expect to make as well as how and when you will get paid. Some gigs will pay cash or check at time of service, others you will invoice and wait for payments.

Quite educational, the narrator's voice kept me interested even when getting into the nitty-gritty of a job that sounded unappealing to me from the get go.

In the last two decades, Private Investigator Marilyn Greene has found more than 200 people - sometimes discovering in hours or minutes a person missing for years. In Finder, Greene shares her news-making triumphs, the joyous family reunions she's made possible, and the chilling cases of dead ends. Often called in when all efforts by law enforcement officials have failed, she has traveled the country to locate runaways, children abducted by parents and strangers, and suicide and homicide victims.

What made the experience of listening to Finder: The True Story of a Private Investigator the most enjoyable?

Hearing the stories of the people found. Even those who were returned to their families for burial. It is peace of mind for the family.

What did you like best about this story?

I appreciated the real life struggle Marilyn had trying to find a balance between her family and the calling she had to find the missing. Being torn like that is not easy.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Each time her sons decided they wanted to join Mom to search or even sit stakeout.

    Any additional comments?

The fight against the world of men trying to keep women out is a fight I ran up against in my younger days, including going to the local police department to ask about a job. In my case I was told that the best I could hope for was a clerical job. I am glad Marilyn found her way into doing what she was meant to do with her life.

What made the experience of listening to The Impossible Quest of Hailing a Taxi on Christmas Eve the most enjoyable?

You know you know the gist of the story but you still want to see how the author envisions a futuristic world to set it in.

What did you like best about this story?

I liked how Scrooge changed. His solutions to the wrongs of the past, and his new demeanor.

Have you listened to any of Steve White’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have and the last book I did not enjoy his voice acting at all, this time he did distinguishable characters yet I had no difficulty understanding each one.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Though it is April it feels like a winters day, this book put me into a Christmas spirit.

Death and deception: Appearances are often deceiving and that is the underlying premise in this collection of short crime fiction. In "Live Free or Die" naive 21-year-old Emmy falls hard for 31-year-old Jack, an efficiency expert from New Hampshire who is not all what he seems. In "Murder in the Marsh" cyclist Carrie Anne Camack discovers more than she bargained for in the fertile farmlands of Ontario's Holland Marsh. In the final story, "The Cycopaths", a triathlon team's open-water swim training in Collingwood, Ontario, has deadly consequences.

A short story is a difficult piece to perfect. You have to give enough background to make us feel like we know what is happening so we care , but still give us a perfect vignette that feels like a complete story. These three stories fit perfectly into this description. There was a lot of detail in these stories I could easily put myself into the pictures, all the w ay to the smells.

Never let anyone tell you we women are gentle and kind we can do what needs to be done to protect what is our's our freedom, our dignity or our record setting times.

These we re fantastic stories I look forward to more from this writer.
