    The radio dramatisation of The Hobbit became a classic when it was first broadcast on BBC Radio 4 in 1968 and it continues to delight today. Tolkien's famous saga, the prelude to the Lord of the Rings, has all the ingredients of fantasy and adventure: dwarves, elves, goblins and trolls, a fearsome dragon, a great wizard, a perilous quest, and a dramatic climax.

    Having read the book, I know the story. Though I appreciate the production and voice talent, for me it didn't deliver. I found the voices or characterizations difficult to follow.

    I highly recommend this one---I couldn't stop listening. Laura Hillenbrand's gifted prose and Edward Hermann's narration combine to engross you in this amazing story. Hillenbrand brings such spirit and excitement to this story that I marveled that it was not a work of fiction.
