  • Overcoming Shyness and Social Anxiety: How to Boost Your Social Confidence

The number of people with some form of shyness has increased, and research now suggests that up to 50% of people experience it. Many of these are ""shy extroverts"" - people who are publicly outgoing, but privately experience painful thoughts or feelings. Social phobia, the more chronic form of shyness, is now thought to affect about 13% of people. People who are shy are also at increased risk of depression and anxiety.

A smorgasbord of info that's not in a easy to follow. Only really good if you're writing a research paper. Not good if you want simple easy to follow steps that gradually help you become a more social person.

It stinks, doesn't it. But what can you do to fix it? More than you've ever imagined. You can put an end to the datelessness. Starting today---right now---you can begin a journey that will bring fun and interesting people into your life, broaden your experience of others and yourself, and lead you toward that date of all dates---a date worth keeping.

...simple to follow instructions to getting into a better dating situation. He gives a great picture and diagnosis of why many people don't have success with dating, and a few good strategies for developing the skill.

I did not give it five stars because:
    - it seems like most of the book is written for women. Men need help too, and in many cases more than women
    - the advice given to men is a bit simplistic. Go out and talk to more women. Really? It really is that simple bit the mental blocks need to be addressed before action takes place.
