Callie Perry is a successful family photographer living in upstate New York. She adores her two daughters, has great friends, and actually doesn't mind that her workaholic husband gets home at 9 p.m. every night-that is, when he's not traveling six months out of the year. Callie's younger sister, Steff, on the other hand, has never grown up. She's a free spirit, living in downtown Manhattan and bouncing between jobs and boyfriends. Lately, she's been working as a vegan chef, even though she can't cook.

Don't read this if you're being treated for cancer. You may or may not like the story otherwise (I found it OK but kind of shallow) but as a cancer patient myself, I really, really wish I hadn't listened to it.

This mysterious tale is the best known and best loved of du Maurier's work. After honeymooning in Italy, the dashing Max de Winter returns to Manderley, his beautiful country estate, with his innocent young bride. But the unsettling presence of Rebecca (the first Mrs. de Winter) still lingers within the mansion's rooms and halls, and most of all in the persistent reminders from the grim housekeeper, Mrs. Danvers.

    "Tired Ears"
    Overall

I am enjoying the story and the narrator but the sound quality makes it hard to hear. I selected the best quality for my download but even with the best quality, the reader's voice sounds muffled (it's like the bass is turned all the way up and the treble is all the way down). I have to turn up the volume on my computer speakers to make out what she is saying, but then when she suddenly gets louder (for dramatic impact), it's too loud. Thus, I'm constantly fiddling with the speaker volume.
    It's a good book, otherwise.
