I used to carry around stacks of audiobooks on casette, then on cd. Audible is the best thing since sliced bread!

He would go to Hell.... At the Iron Mountain Home for Boys, there was nothing but time. Time to burn and time to kill, time for two young orphans to learn that life isn’t won without a fight. Julian survives only because his older brother, Michael, is fearless and fiercely protective. When tensions boil over and a boy is brutally killed, there is only one sacrifice left for Michael to make: He flees the orphanage and takes the blame with him.

    Overall

This is the first book by John Hart that I have listened to and I loved it! I was invested in the characters and really cared what happened to them. I dont feel that the book was slow in any part- I was riveted from begining to end, and the action sequences really had my heart pounding. The short author interview at the end is a great touch. After finishing, I immediately put his other titles on my wish list. You won't regret spending a credit for this one!

Funnyman Adam Carolla is known for two things: hilarious rants about things that drive him crazy and personal stories about everything from his hardscrabble childhood to his slacker friends to the hypocrisy of Hollywood. He tackled rants in his first book, and now he tells his best stories and debuts some never-before-heard tales as well. Adam Carolla started broke and blue collar and has now been on the Hollywood scene for over 15 years. Yet he never lost his underdog demeanor.

Would you listen to Not Taco Bell Material again? Why?

As a loyal fan of Captain Carolla's pirate ship, I will definitely listen to this book again. To me, his stories are inspirational. Just a regular guy who knows what he wants out of life, and willing to do whatever it takes to get it.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Not Taco Bell Material?

It's hard for me to choose a particular memorable moment in the book. I love it all. I really like that he doesn't stick to the script.

What does Adam Carolla bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

In my humble opinion, this book couldn't possibly be read by anyone but Adam Carolla. I have always loved to listen to books narrated by the author. It's great to hear the inflections exactly the way the author intended.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I definitely wanted to listen all in one sitting, but I just didn't have the time. Some time in the future, maybe I will find occasion to do so.

    Any additional comments?

I love the way Adam goes off onto tangents that aren't in the script.

Jason Steadman is a 30-year-old sales executive living in Boston and working for an electronics giant, a competitor to Sony and Panasonic. He's a witty, charismatic guy who's well liked at the office, but he lacks the "killer instinct" necessary to move up the corporate ladder. To the chagrin of his ambitious wife, it looks as if his career has hit a ceiling. Jason's been sidelined.

    "A Good Book!"

The reviews for this book are all over the place. Some of us love it and others, well, not so much. Reading all the different reviews reminds me how different people are from each other. Just because 'John from Arizona' likes a book doesn't mean that I will, and vice-versa. I don't know anything about the corporate world, so Joseph Finder's books are very interesting to me. I think this book is well written, and the characters well developed- if not likeable. To me, that's just the way it should be. This book is well worth the money (or credit) and I really enjoyed it. I would recommend it to anyone who likes the genre.
