Stunningly beautiful and extraordinarily wealthy, Sarah Vangelder had always wanted more for herself than to be sold into marriage for the price of a dukedom. But marriage to Justin Aubrey might be the adventure she's always dreamed of.

This is only my second review after listening to hundreds of books but I have to make Audible aware of the poor quality of the narration.. I was sooo looking forward to another MJPutney audio but I could barely finish listening. The American Female accents were "horsey" and gruff--not the least bit feminine with diction that certainly did not reflect cultured, well to do Americans. I'm surprised that Brilliance even released this audio as it certainly does not meet their usual high quality.

He is notorious. Lord Simon Roxbury is a godsend to gossip columnists everywhere. This notorious rake has recently been caught in an extremely compromising position by none other than the London Weekly's Lady of Distinction. Rumor also has it that Lord R. received an ultimatum: be wed or be penniless. She is scandalous.

Spoiler: Julianna is a very unappealing character and certainly not one for a romance "heroine". She is also an embarrassment to journalists. She refused to retract a story even after she found out there was an explanation. She was not making a stand for "the freedom of the press" but only wanted to keep her "column" and "independence" . She had no regard for her friends and co-workers who could be hurt or even killed. I stopped listening right after she made her selfish, self-centered choice.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

    Did not finish so annoying.

Would you be willing to try another book from Cynthia Wicklund? Why or why not?

Depends on performer. This one may discourage trying another Wicklund book

How could the performance have been better?

Since it. Is clear she has a speech/diction problem & no acting skill I don't believe it is possible!

Do you think In the Garden of Disgrace needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

Did not finish so can't say.

I can't understand how this audio was even distributed & the performer was chosen by the producer. It always makes me think a relative needed a job!!

Would you be willing to try another one of Camme Tyla’s performances?

Absolutely NOT. WAY TOO BORING -not performed but read in monotone. I never under-stand how such poor quality is produced when there are so many great narrators. Maybe someone is doing a favor for a relative!!

What did you like about this audiobook?

Anne flosnik's is always great & this one is amazing as she expertly switched from southern American accent to English-male - female very distinct.

How has the book increased your interest in the subject matter?

Just want more of this quality

Does the author present information in a way that is interesting and insightful, and if so, how does he achieve this?

Kept my interest & not too much sex

What did you find wrong about the narrator's performance?

    Nothing

Do you have any additional comments?

I'm glad I found this book-it is not listed on Audibles historical romances or under the writers name. I found it on amazons lists-something that has happened before-ex. The Ugly Duchess which I emailed the lapse to audible but it still is not listed. After finding a book at amazon I can find it on Audible by searching the titles!!

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

    Narrator OK.

Anger, disappointment, irritation. boredom. Shock as I have been a fan of Coulter and have all her other historical's in audio.
