There are some odd things about Nate’s new apartment. Of course, he has other things on his mind. He hates his job. He has no money in the bank. No girlfriend. No plans for the future. So while his new home isn’t perfect, it’s livable. The rent is low, the property managers are friendly, and the odd little mysteries don’t nag at him too much. At least, not until he meets Mandy, his neighbor across the hall, and notices something unusual about her apartment. And Xela’s apartment. And Tim’s. And Veek’s.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

I zoned out a few times, missing some “hopefully” mundane information, but my intrigue increased toward the last 6 hours of the book.

What other book might you compare 14 to and why?

I can't think of a book to compare this to. The beginning of the book started so slow I could not imagine what the outcome would be.

Have you listened to any of Ray Porter’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

    I have not

Did 14 inspire you to do anything?

    Nothing I can think of

More than 40 years ago, Mario Puzo wrote his iconic portrait of the Mafia underworld as told through the fictional first family of American crime, the Corleones. The leader, Vito Corleone, is the Godfather. He is a benevolent despot who stops at nothing to gain and hold power. His command post is a fortress on Long Island from which he presides over a vast underground empire that includes the rackets, gambling, bookmaking, and unions. His influence runs through all levels of American society, from the cop on the beat to the nation's mighty.

Sophie Lawson may be a mere human with no special abilities except a strong immunity to magic. But the havoc she's wreaked on the supernaturals who come up against the Underworld Detection Agency have earned her plenty of enemies. Still, a girl can't freak out every time a horribly barbecued corpse is found with her business card in its hand. Or see a sudden glut of earthquakes, wildfires and three-headed dogs as just another day in California.

What made the experience of listening to Under the Final Moon the most enjoyable?

the action! there was A LOT going on.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Will - I love his accent and his character! Nina is great as well!!!

What about Jessica Almasy’s performance did you like?

I like all the different voices she is able to do.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The ending was a surprise! I was not at all excited about it! It was rather sudden and did not end the way I wanted it to!

    Any additional comments?

This series was a good one. The main character was more emotional in some of the books then others which enabled me to continue the series; otherwise I would have stopped listening! But the ending of the series shocked me!!!

Sophie Lawson was seriously hoping life at the UDA would get back to relative normal now that her boss Pete Sampson has been reinstated. Unfortunately, her new assignment is sending her undercover into a realm where even the most powerful paranormals fear to tread…her old high school. Being a human immune to magic is no defense against soulless picture-perfect mean girls - or a secret witch coven about to sacrifice a missing female student.

So when he shows up in her office, to ask for her help against creatures so feared that no vampire will willingly speak their name, Anita is surprised. But she believes him. Malcolm may not be a Master of the City, but he's an old and powerful vampire, a leader of men, and he does not easily ask for help - especially from Anita and Jean-Claude, whose power Malcolm considers corrupt.

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

I dislike the new narrator and want the old one back.

Has The Harlequin turned you off from other books in this genre?

with out the previous books that are missing from audible in this series, the jump to book 15 is confusing and ruined by the change in narration.

What didn’t you like about Cynthia Holloway’s performance?

Jean Claude does not sound the same. Anita's voice has more sexuality in it then in the previous books.

Her medical records - from a month-long hospital stay of which she had no memory - reported psychosis, violence, and dangerous instability. Yet, only weeks earlier she had been a healthy, ambitious twenty-four-year-old, six months into her first serious relationship and a sparkling career as a cub reporter

Would you listen to Brain on Fire again? Why?

I would not listen again. It was very interesting, just not something I would listen to again.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Brain on Fire?

finding out the disease she has is undetectable by most doctors and many people in the past, instead of being possessed, might have experienced similar auto immune illnesses.

What does Heather Henderson bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

the changes in her voice allow the reader to place themselves in the main character's shoes to really feel her pain and confusion.
