Emily Pollifax is one of a precious few gray-haired female sleuths who solve their cases through unflagging determination, moral courage and wisdom that comes with age. In "The Amazing Mrs. Pollifax", Emily answers the call of that “nice Mr. Carstairs” to go to Istanbul as a courier and search for a missing agent.

Could you survive on your own, in the wild, with everyone out to make sure you don't live to see the morning? In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by 12 outlying districts. The Capitol is harsh and cruel and keeps the districts in line by forcing them all to send one boy and one girl between the ages of 12 and 18 to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV.

Would you consider the audio edition of The Hunger Games to be better than the print version?

No, since the narrator (although she has some great voices and accents) sounds much older than Katniss would be and when she does Prim's voice, it kind of sounds like a parody of a child's voice. The print version allows me to hear a much younger voice. I would definitely listen to Carolyn McCormick narrate again, just not a YA book.

What did you like best about this story?

The plot drives the story forward at an exciting pace. There are some major holes in the story but that's old news (and the next two books have even more holes, but again, old news).

What three words best describe Carolyn McCormick’s performance?

    Older than Katniss

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It's an emotional roller coaster and is not always easy to listen to (or read) and that makes it a compelling story.
