I don't usually go for an audiobook that is less then several hours long. However, this is Lovecraft and this is not your usual narration. These narrators are creepy, haunted souls, given to fits of passion. They are impossible to ignore, fitting since this story is impossible to stop listening to. The power of the words and the excellence of the narration is an infectious seed of disturb that takes root in the listener. I am very pleased, even if I'm not likely to sleep tonight.
I love the Dune universe so much I feel a sense of protectiveness about it. The movies hurt me so that I cringe every time I hear the threat of a new one. When I saw this audiobook available I thought I would give it a try, what can I say, hope springs eternal. I'm so glad I did, it's amazing! The actors are superb, they knew who they were playing and they delivered the goods. In fact, I like many characters, like Gurney and the fat evil Harkonnin, much better from this version then the best interpretation of them I ever had from my many well grooved readings. When I read it now I hear the voices of this narration. That inner emulation truly is the greatest compliment I can give.
