In Broken Harbor, all but one member of the Spain family lies dead, and it’s up to Mick “Scorcher” Kennedy to find out why. Mick must piece together why their house is full of cameras pointed at holes in the walls and how a nighttime intruder bypassed all the locks. Meanwhile, the town of Broken Harbor holds something else for Mick: disturbing memories of a childhood summer gone terribly wrong.

I bought the Kindle version the day it came out. Then turned around and downloaded the audible version. I don't think I have been this excited about a book since ''The Secret History '' by Donna Tarte in the nineties. This author offers incredible insight into relationships and in family dynamics. Ms. French is a young woman and how she knows so much about life is astonishing. And yes, the plot is excellent too. Thank you Ms French.

A Greek tragedy in modern England, A Place of Execution is a taut psychological thriller that explores, exposes and explodes the border between reality and illusion in a multi-layered narrative that turns expectations on their head and reminds us that what we know is what we do not know.

One of the 5 best mysteries that I have ever read or listened to and I am 72 years old! The plot, the characters, and the narrator were all perfect. Obviously it is not a run of the mill mystery. you can get info on the story elsewhere. I believe it is my job to share my experience and thoughts on the quality of the book.

It’s not even a clue. It’s a whisper, a trace, a ghost echo, drifting down through the decades via chance connections so fragile that they would disintegrate in the puff of a breath. But it’s enough to get legendary former Marine sniper Bob Lee Swagger interested in the events of November 22, 1963, and the third bullet that so decisively ended the life of John F. Kennedy and set the stage for one of the most enduring controversies of our time. Swagger begins his slow night stalk through a much-traveled landscape. But he’s asking questions that few have asked before....

I am a little old lady and love Stephen Hunter and Bob Lee, but we have a problem now. Bob Lee is 66 years old: too old to do what he does best, so the story takes another path. I liked this book as a stand alone story, but it is not about our Bob Lee. Unfortunately the author has tied his books to a timeline and we have gotten to the last stages of Bob Lee's life. I would like to see the author go back and give us more adventures in years past. I did not care for the narrator. He did a decent job, but his voice does not fit my mental scenario that I created when reading all of Mr. Hunter's books through the years. I know Bob Lee is from a humble background, but he is a master, an artist in his field. He is the best. Narrator should be reading Mickey Spillane - needs to be more like Gary Cooper - smoother.

When beautiful, dirt-poor Ruth Yancey rises to become mistress of Sparta, Georgia's finest mansion, she reveals a heart of pure evil. For three generations, she rules the mansion through cruel manipulation and insinuation, breaking hearts and shattering souls - until one courageous woman decides to match her madness.

Ruth Yancy Fox represents those people in one's life who try to steer your path in the direction that they think is best. Of course, her actions, for the most part, are larger than life, but certainly ring true. I wish more of Ms. Siddons books had been recorded unabridged. Her stories set in the South are perfect. Don't understand why this has not been corrected.

Loved this book when I read it and equally love audible version. I know Ruth Rendell's detective sells more books, but I LOVE her books written under name of Barbara Vine. Psychological suspense at its best.

No fluff here! The listener gets real depth in plot, history of the times, application of method of finding out why people do what they do and interesting characters. PLUS, one of the best narrators around today, George Guidall. He is terrific! A born storyteller. He blends so well into the book that you forget he is there. He is part of the story.

As dusk approaches a small Dublin suburb in the summer of 1984, mothers begin to call their children home. But on this warm evening, three children do not return from the dark and silent woods. When the police arrive, they find only one of the children, unable to recall a single detail of the previous hours.

Twenty years later, the found boy, Rob Ryan, is a detective on the Dublin Murder Squad and keeps his past a secret. But when a 12-year-old girl is found murdered in the same woods, he and Detective Cassie Maddox find themselves investigating a case chillingly similar to the previous unsolved mystery.

Harlan Coben watch out in your stand alone suspense novels! This author is right there with you. I couldn't stop listening. I continued to listen while cooking, feeding cats, etc. I have grown tired of series books. After 15 or so books using same character that is enough. I want new, fresh different and Gregg hurwitz gives you that in spades. One of favorite occupations is browsing Audible looking for treasure and I hit jackpot here.
