Freelance writer Troy Chance is snapping photos of the Saranac Lake Winter Carnival ice palace when the ice-cutting machine falls silent. Encased in the ice is the shadowy outline of a body. Troy's assigned to write an in-depth feature on the dead man, who was the privileged son of a wealthy Connecticut family who had been playing at a blue collar life in this Adirondack village. And the deeper Troy digs into his life and mysterious death, the murkier things become.

Howard says: "A strong story of family, loss and redemption."

Hope the author writes a sequel soon. Really kept me interested and it was a very well written book. It kept me so interested and the events unfolded at a good pace. Sad not know certain facts/details but I kind of like it the way it was all nicely put together.

Pirriwee Public's annual school Trivia Night has ended in a shocking riot. One parent is dead. The school principal is horrified. As police investigate what appears to have been a tragic accident, signs begin to indicate that this devastating death might have been cold-blooded murder. In this thought-provoking novel, number-one New York Times best-selling author Liane Moriarty deftly explores the reality of parenting and playground politics, ex-husbands and ex-wives, and fractured families.

Joanne M. McGowan says: "I didn't want to press the stop button!"

Seth Hubbard is a wealthy man dying of lung cancer. He trusts no one. Before he hangs himself from a sycamore tree, Hubbard leaves a new, handwritten, will. It is an act that drags his adult children, his black maid, and Jake into a conflict as riveting and dramatic as the murder trial that made Brigance one of Ford County's most notorious citizens, just three years earlier. The second will raises far more questions than it answers. Why would Hubbard leave nearly all of his fortune to his maid? Had chemotherapy and painkillers affected his ability to think clearly?

A mysterious stranger known as 'The Wolf' leaves an infant with the sisters of Santo Spirito. A tiny silver key hidden in her wrappings is the only clue to the child's identity and so begins a story as intriguing and beautiful as the city of Florence itself. Belinda Alexandra's new novel, Tuscan Rose, is set in Italy during the time of Mussolini. This richly woven tale of passion, love, longing, witchcraft and magic promises to be everything her readers love and more.

    Story

This is one of my favorite author and probably my favorite narrator. Yet, this book gave me some mixed feelings because it was very sad. There were times I had to speed up the narration to end the overwhelmingly depressing scenes in the book. I must admit I got frustrated by the sequence of bad events throughout the story. The story and plot are solid in this novel; a good set of characters and very interesting with many well researched facts of the time and era of the story is impressive. I enjoyed the book and recommend to all listeners that enjoy long good books.

From the two-time Man Booker short-listed author of The Secret Scripture comes a magnificent new novel that is the story of the twentieth century in America. Told in the first person, as a narrative of Lilly Bere’s life over seventeen days, On Canaan’s Side opens as Lilly mourns the loss of her grandson, Bill.

Great interesting story, narrated excellently by Wanda McCaddon. One just cannot help but feel that it is very sad and if you are prone to be impacted by your audiobooks, then this one will not cheer you up. Nevertheless, it is a great story and I am very glad I listened to it.

Living first in Harlem, he found employment as a construction worker, barman, and bookstore clerk. In 2000 he moved to Denver to become a high school English teacher and it was there that he began writing fiction.

    Story

For all the excellent reviews of this book and how highly rated it has been everywhere I looked, I have to say I was not so impressed. It is a little dark, a bit of a downer for me. The mayhem background of Ireland in the 80's was too much chaos, along with the character lack of self-awareness, sort of re-inventing itself with every twist and turn of the story. The narrator was good and fit well with my overall perception of the story gloominess. The wrap up and outcome of this novel left me skeptical about deciding if I wanted to read more in this trilogy from Adrian McKinty. I cannot say I will yet, maybe I will change my mind in the future.

    Story

I started to like the book and thought it had an interesting well thought story in the beginning; then unfortunately the author might have run out of imagination and the story stops evolving and becomes all sexuality with very descriptive details and unnecessary repetitive of the same act. I have to say that Josephine Bailey is one of my favorites because she is just wonderful. However, this book was so hollow that not even her excellent performance can save it. I am in the middle of this book but I do not think I will be able to finish it. I am sick of the step-by-step description of every time the couple in the story decide to have intimacy. There is no substance to this story at this point and I am very disappointed.

History has all but forgotten.... In the spring of 1708, an invading Jacobite fleet of French and Scottish soldiers nearly succeeded in landing the exiled James Stewart in Scotland to reclaim his crown. Now, Carrie McClelland hopes to turn that story into her next best-selling novel. Settling herself in the shadow of Slains Castle, she creates a heroine named for one of her own ancestors and starts to write. But then she discovers her novel is more fact than fiction....

It is Nick and Amy Dunne's fifth wedding anniversary. Presents are being wrapped and reservations are being made when Nick's clever and beautiful wife disappears from their rented McMansion on the Mississippi River. Husband-of-the-Year Nick isn't doing himself any favors with cringe-worthy daydreams. Under mounting pressure from the police and the media - as well as Amy's fiercely doting parents - the town golden boy parades an endless series of lies, deceits, and inappropriate behavior. Nick is oddly evasive, and he's definitely bitter - but is he really a killer?

    Story

The story captures interest and is well narrated. However, the characters are so very dark, dysfunctional, and outright crazy that is hard to get pass and give the story the credit it may deserve. I think if there were any sane, normal or nice characters I would have liked this better. This novel was just absolutely too dark to me.
