In that first volume, we were introduced to the remarkable world of Roshar, a world both alien and magical, where gigantic hurricane-like storms scour the surface every few days and life has adapted accordingly. Roshar is shared by humans and the enigmatic, humanoid Parshendi, with whom they are at war.

If you could sum up Words of Radiance in three words, what would they be?

    Complex. Engaging. EPIC.

What other book might you compare Words of Radiance to and why?

Frank Herbert's Dune. for the multi-layered complex story structure. And the grand sweeping scale of the story.

Have you listened to any of Michael Kramer and Kate Reading ’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

yes I've listened to a few including the way of the Kings. they do a much better job on this book simply because they both use the same pronunciation for characters names

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I never wanted it to stop

    Any additional comments?

Brandon Sanderson is shaping up to be one of the premier modern fantasy writers the new Stormlight archive series really displays his skill and prowess at his art. I simply cannot wait until the next book

To defeat the ultimate weapon, you must become one! Once mankind feared the berserkers, killer machines determined to eradicate all life in the universe. But the Berserker Wars are over and the threat of the sentient doomsday devices is over. Or is it?

Vikram says: "Amazing story, amazing commentary at the end"
    "the genius of fred saberhagen"
    Overall

Fred saberhagen captures the malevolence of the berserker threat once again. The messianic rise of the childhood hero archetype is used for good effect. A superbly told conclusion to the berserker series

  • METAtropolis Free Story: 'In the Forests of the Night'

“In the Forests of the Night” is from the Hugo and Audie Award-nominated METAtropolis, an intelligent and stunning creation of five cutting-edge science-fiction writers, performed by an amazing cast of elite narrators and stars from TV’s Battlestar Galactica. METAtropolis takes place in a future where cities have transformed or died, and technologists, eco-survivalists, and civilization itself vie for continued existence.

    Robert says: "Great writer-narrator combination"
    "interesting but flawed"
    Overall

The story is an interesting concept but fundamentally flawed by heavy handed use of his own political ideology. Wielded with the subtlety of a sledgehammer, the author unknowingly detracts from am otherwise interesting and engaging story.
