Byron Katie stands alone when it comes to self-help. For 30 years I have been reading what is available and many, many times the books explain the problem at great length but fall short in application. I was expecting the usual "Hmmm... another book, another way of saying the same stuff, maybe this one will have it" type of thinking when I originally approached this writer but, instead, I found myself lifted, inspired and injected with enthusiasm from her straight no nonsense approach.

It's ok to admit we have issues because we all do. All the books tell us what we shouldn't be thinking, suggesting that we stop the wrong habits of thought, but where do we send those thoughts, how can we just replace them with a new sentences that don't belong to us and yet are somehow expected to be the new success formulars for our circumstance. Do you know what,.....I have discovered that it is better to be found running towards something than running away from something. You see, if you were running for a bus/train and tripped, you would just get up, dust yourself off and keep going. Your mind would be on the destination because YOU WANT IT, you're running towards it.
But, if you were trying to run away from something, say bad thinking or another habit, and you slip up, you're more likely to beat up on yourself for slipping. We'd all look back then and see things like how little the distance we have made and feeling guilty and shameful & want to give up or whatever. There really is a big difference here.

Katie offers something exciting and substantial for us to run towards, something if taken seriously, can end the war within, which in turn, can only help end the war without, at least in our own circle and that's better than it was. Within her writings is a profound permission to re-invent yourself which can only fill your heart with a new adoration, love and gratitude to be here, alive, and able to pay it forward.
I sincerely recommend any of her writings..Christine Villa:)
