I loved the first book in the series so much but this one really let me down. It fell into the trap that a lot of female-centric fantasy books do which is soft-core porn. I'm glad that Rachel and her boyfriend have a lively sex life, but the unimaginative details are too common for the genre. I'm still not sure why she's dating this guy, anyway. He put her in debt to a demon in the first book. That's not leaving the cap off the toothpaste, that's putting her soul in danger when she begged him not to. Also, the excuses that she makes for her room mate, who attacks her over and over, makes her sound like a delusional battered wife. "It's my fault, she needs me, I'm special, I'll be careful next time, I'm worried about her." blah-blah-blah. So annoying! That said, I thought the second book in the Dresden Files series was horrible for many of the same reasons. I'm willing to give the next book a try after a break.
