What made the experience of listening to The Cabinet of Curiosities the most enjoyable?

because I know and love these characters. They are a part of my family. Pendagast is wonderful as usual. I missed Digusta(spl?) but I really know these characters.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Pendagast of course, because he is from the south like me, and because he is so unstopable and fragile at the same time.

What does Jonathan Marosz bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I loved most of his reading but I wish he would have had a bit more Southern Gentleman to his Pendagast voice.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Yes when Pendagast went to see his crazy old aunt.

    Any additional comments?

I am a 55 year old mother and grandmother, and avid reader and an elected official in the deep south.

The story begins in 1962. On a rocky patch of the sun-drenched Italian coastline, a young innkeeper, chest-deep in daydreams, looks out over the incandescent waters of the Ligurian Sea and spies an apparition: a tall, thin woman, a vision in white, approaching him on a boat. She is an actress, he soon learns, an American starlet, and she is dying. And the story begins again today, half a world away, when an elderly Italian man shows up on a movie studio's back lot - searching for the mysterious woman he last saw at his hotel decades earlier.

If you could sum up Beautiful Ruins in three words, what would they be?

    COMPELLING, FUN, READABLE

What other book might you compare Beautiful Ruins to and why?

not in my wheel house but something about the review caused me to buy it and I am so very glad I did. Going back to get Jess Walter's other books.

    Which scene was your favorite?

At the end.....when the two main characters are together....do not want to reveal too much!

If you could rename Beautiful Ruins, what would you call it?

Oh the title is so perfect......so perfect cannot change it

    Any additional comments?

Yes I am a avid reader, 55 years old a mother and a grandmother....and an elected official.

Would you listen to Two Graves again? Why?

Oh yes it was fun and it the style of these two authors I love.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Two Graves?

When Pendagast one of my most beloved characters discovered he has a son. I was floored and happy for him!

What does Rene Auberjonois bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Oh Rene is incredible, with his years of experience as a well seasoned actor he really helps make this book a huge winner. Hope they use Rene more.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Yes when Dr. Felder (?spelling) realised he was in love with Constance, I had suspected as much but you all know how men can be, stupid about love! LOL!

    Any additional comments?

I am never disappointed by Preston and Child I love their stuff. I am a 55 year old female, married 38 years, with children and grandchildren and I am an elected official in my county. I love the way their books take me out of my everyday life into adventure, fun and sometimes scary stuff!
