The ladies of the town won't stop whispering about deliciously wicked Jack Dodger - once a thieving street urchin, now the wealthy owner of London's most exclusive gentleman's club. Olivia, Duchess of Lovingdon, would never associate with such a rogue. So when Jack is named sole heir to the duke's personal possessions, the beautiful, well-bred lady is outraged. Now, Olivia is forced to share her beloved home with this despicable man. But Olivia's icy disdain is no match for Jack's dangerous charm.

The book was mostly bickering as foreplay. The writer had some unique ideas, but the story didn't put them to good use. I just don't get the bickering part - what a turn off. The characters did change, and that part got better, but not enough to make it really good. It was OK, but nothing I will remember later. Romantic fluff.

Trashy-romance writer Gerri has it all - an overbearing family, a dead-end job, and no man but a ton of pressure to get married and have kids. Frustrated and hopeless that things will ever change, she decides it’s time to transition from “tragic loser” to “tragic loss”. Armed with a shoebox full of sleeping pills and a big bottle of vodka, she’s ready to end it all. First, she writes “honest” farewell notes to everyone she knows…

This exciting finale to Lauren Olive's New York Times best-selling Delirium trilogy is a riveting blend of nonstop action and forbidden romance in a dystopian United States. Now an active member of the resistance, Lena has transformed. The nascent rebellion that was underway in Pandemonium has ignited into an all-out revolution in Requiem, and Lena is at the center of the fight. After rescuing Julian from a death sentence, Lena and her friends fled to the Wilds. But the Wilds are no longer a safe haven.

    Story

The story was interesting, the reader well matched and I thought the concept was good. Spoiler alert: When the female character uses another guy, and then throws him over, I don't have any respect for that character. "Don't tell me you love me - here let me kiss all over you". "Please give me time but I'll continue to sleep next to you every night". The poor guy ends up getting hit right between the eyes - down for the count when he is dumped. With the girl throwing herself at him at every chance, how could he ever see it coming. I found that bit distracting - the story could stand without it. At one point, when she was all over the first guy again, I wondered what she was going to do - take him back to the tent to sleep with her and the second guy? I always think both guys should walk away and find someone better. That back and forth is like a character flaw in a book. I did like the main story, but the so called romance was annoying.

I’m pushing aside the memory of my nightmare, pushing aside thoughts of Alex, pushing aside thoughts of Hana and my old school, push, push, push, like Raven taught me to do. The old life is dead. But the old Lena is dead too. I buried her.I left her beyond a fence, behind a wall of smoke and flame. Lauren Oliver delivers an electrifying follow-up to her acclaimed New York Times bests eller, Delirium. This riveting, brilliant novel crackles with the fire of fierce defiance, forbidden romance, and the sparks of a revolution about to ignite.

The story was interesting, the reader well matched, but sometimes I get stuck on the little things. Lessons I learned. Weapons: always leave your weapon behind, or place it in a location that can’t be reached in an emergency. Romance: love the one you're with, or go back and forth, back and forth, back and forth - real love lasts a few weeks, or maybe a month or two. Stealth: In a dangerous situation when your life or freedom are on the line, screech out the name of the other person with you to draw as much attention as possible. That way your location and identity will available to the group trying to capture you. See, it's just the little things that get in my way at times. I did continue with the series.

"Ninety-five days, and then I'll be safe. I wonder whether the procedure will hurt. I want to get it over with. It's hard to be patient. It's hard not to be afraid while I'm still uncured, though so far the deliria hasn't touched me yet. Still, I worry. They say that in the old days, love drove people to madness. The deadliest of all deadly things: It kills you both when you have it and when you don't."

    Story

The story was interesting, the reader well matched, but I got lost along the way. I don't know when or how it happened. Maybe it was having someone important tell you the story of their life for the first time, but you weren't really paying attention. Or when you have the most daring, exciting night of your life, you fall asleep. Maybe things felt like they got stalled when everything should have been building. Maybe it was just me. If someone important was sharing the story of their life, I would listen to every word and memorize the way they looked, the sound of their voice, just to keep the memories alive in my heart and mind. At the least, you could pay attention. Well written, and well read - you might want to give it a chance. Just keep in mind, the story is from the viewpoint of a inexperienced 17-year old. As a small annoyance, there were a lot of references to bad smells, and things were compared to teeth one too many times. Almost really good.

Once a respected member of the Sorcerer Council and now an outcast, Blaise has spent the last year of his life working on a special magical object. The goal is to allow anyone to do magic, not just the sorcerer elite. The outcome of his quest is unlike anything he could've ever imagined - because, instead of an object, he creates Her.

I did like the characters and the story, but the action left something to be desired. The magic confrontations consisted of placing cards in an object, scribbling on the cards during a fight, trying to destroy the cards of others, and dropping cards accidentally in a battle. I haven't made up my mind about continuing the series. It almost worked, but not exactly.

I didn't like the reader and just couldn't get into the story Maybe he should be reading text books - not books with different characters and accents. Nothing about the reader appealed to me, and I had to stop the book. I didn't like the characters either. Someone said the main character had a heart of gold - is that after he killed his first two victims without emotion? I think I missed something here.

Gwyneth Shepherd's sophisticated, beautiful cousin Charlotte has been prepared her entire life for traveling through time. But unexpectedly, it is Gwyneth who, in the middle of class, takes a sudden spin to a different era! Gwyneth must now unearth the mystery of why her mother would lie about her birth date to ward off suspicion about her ability, brush up on her history, and work with Gideon, the time traveler from a similarly gifted family that passes the gene through its male line, and whose presence becomes, in time, less insufferable and more essential.

I enjoyed going on the journey with Gwyneth and Gideon, but you have to understand this is a 16 year old girl going through this unexpected adventure. This is school, extreme emotions and first experiences in a fantasy setting. I found the book appealing and I liked the characters. I enjoyed the time travel, the romance, the relationships, the family, and the side characters. The reader and the writer were calm and well matched - an overexcited reader grates on my nerves. I downloaded all three books so I didn't have to wait to hear what happened next. I was drawn into the story - a pleasant getaway.

Emma is content. She's got a promising career in front of her, great friends, and a pretty amazing family. But her love life has been a little lacking lately. That's when fate steps in, and she crashes into a tall, dark, and handsome man - Teren Adams. He’s single, successful, an extraordinary gentleman, but he’s also secretive. And some of his secrets are more unusual than most people’s. For instance, he’s a "little bit" vampire. He has fangs, incredible hearing, unbelievable speed, and, on occasion, he enjoys drinking a steaming cup of blood. But he’s also very much alive.

The reader started out slightly annoying, but then it turned out that the female character was also slightly annoying, so that ended up being a match. Not that I care for annoying readers or characters. The supposed romantic relationship was a cross between boring and aggravating - no spark or heat at all that I could feel. Just a flat book. I was surprised that the storyline could be stripped of any excitement or interest - even the sex was boring. When Chapter 2 started, I thought I had been listening for a really long time. I didn't like the interaction between the couple in any way. The story wasn't interesting, sexy, funny, romantic, fun, exciting, or scary - it wasn't anything. I didn't want to spend any more time with characters that I did not like. It might work for some, but did not work for me.

It is Nick and Amy Dunne's fifth wedding anniversary. Presents are being wrapped and reservations are being made when Nick's clever and beautiful wife disappears from their rented McMansion on the Mississippi River. Husband-of-the-Year Nick isn't doing himself any favors with cringe-worthy daydreams. Under mounting pressure from the police and the media - as well as Amy's fiercely doting parents - the town golden boy parades an endless series of lies, deceits, and inappropriate behavior. Nick is oddly evasive, and he's definitely bitter - but is he really a killer?

Since so many people liked this book, it must be me. This was a painful experience. I listen to anything and everything, and love history, romance, mysteries, thrillers, fantasy, and humor. I was looking forward to this book, and I had saved it for a long weekend. I started the book in the car when I left home for the park where I walk and listen to my books. I didn't even get out of my neighborhood to the main road when I had to stop and turn the thing off. It couldn't have been more than a few minutes, but I couldn't stand another second of the story. Painfully awful to me - I wish I could wash the words from my memory. Awful, awful, awful. I am not saying not to read this book, but I recommend that you try the sample first. With all the high ratings, I didn't even think about trying the sample. Learned my lesson. I would give this minus five stars if I could. I have struggled through books I didn't enjoy, hoping they would get better, or trying to find something in them that was worth the time. I would not even consider listening to one more word of this book. This book was not for me. I will avoid anything by this author in the future.

I don't mind light fantasy fluff, but this book did not work for me. By the time the writer used the description of an ostrich with a hot fudge sundae on its head for the third time, I had to stop listening. This book was not for me - if there is a romance, I certainly didn't get to that part. This book might work for some, but it didn’t work for me.
