"Classic King"
I almost didn't read Under the Dome because of the negative reviews. I did, however, have a friend who said it was a great read. I've always loved Stephen King so.... This wasn't my favorite read, mainly because I so wanted to 'do away' with the detestable bad guy. The ending caught me by surprise and though (also like most King novels) it didn't end exactly as I'd like, it did end with a surprise. Don't take the negative reviews on their own (maybe they had a political axe to grind?) and read for yourself!
"Another Point of View"
I just reread the other reviews for this book to make sure I didn't overlook a reviewer mentioning just how British/Cockney this read is. Yes...I know we all like different types of books. However had I know just how British in humor, character portrayal, etc., this book was I would not have purchased it - my credits are way too valuable!! I am in no way disparaging Brits -just don't come close to understanding the slang/dialogue in this book. I don't even like the protagonist. I am attempting to step out of my comfort zone and finish the read but want other Audible members who might not be fans of the British detective genre to have another perspective before they purchase.
"Probably not...."
The narrator sounds way to much like Walter Brimley (the old guy with the mustache) to me. I'm having trouble relating to the plot because I keep seeing an older person selling insurance to the elderly. Can't get past the voice to really give the book a chance.
"Love this new guy!"
Was afraid I'd be disappointed in a Sanford novel without Lucas Davenport - not!! The way I judge a really good book is if I get to work in the am and want to sit in the car (at the risk of being late!) and keep listening. I suspected but didn't 'figure it out' until almost the end. I highly recommend.
