A good book. A few of the deceptions were old and used, but still produced a lot of grins. It was what writing is-amusing, thought provoking, fun, the thrill of hearing something for the first time, an exersise in learning, and very well read as a bonus. Perhaps in the next book the author could include Ponzi rip offs and selling mid east wars with alegations of WMDs.

Mr. Evans has captured a time in the past and unfolded it for all to see. Mr. Pratt does a very good job of narration as well. It is a lesson in history that does not put you to sleep. All of the evil traits of the human kind seemed to have come together at that time and Hitler and his deplorable menions held center stage for only a brief time. Thank goodness for that. Very revealing bood. I reccomend it.

This book fills in a lot of history that has been generally skipped over in favor of the Civil War and other high volume catagories. I listen to audible or read a book to learn. I did that and then some. Hard men, rough time, the building of a nation, the shrinking of nations, fortunes won, fortunes lost, the rise of the U.S. the decline of Mexico, the making of American heroes, the end of the Red man, its all in there. Very well read. Very well written. A bit sad in places. Non fiction tends to be that way sometimes.

A good story with very revealing details. There is a strong projection of reality-that is to say-smell the dirty unwashed bodies in a car traveling in the heat of Texas. There is double cross and loyalty. There is out right murder by the law and criminal alike. Very rarely dull. A study in poor people in a poor state in a poor time in history. I found myself wishing for a happier ending but knew better. This is a straight story of violent crime with the folklore left out. I found it amazing just how little money they stole and how they didn't put any of the loot aside for a rainy day or hit the big score and quit. And the asenal they carried is very impressive if you happened to know just what those weapons can do. Good book. Well read. I don't regret buying the book...

It is sadly the same old story--the people selling the book give it far better reviews than those who bought it. Every narrator tries to sound like the writer would sound and speak like the writer too. They seldom succeed. Mr. Twain goes on the dream trip and spends most of the time complaining. Poorly narrated. Twain exhibits his genious for story telling. What is missing is a story teller.

Disapointing. No new insights (as implied) to Charles Manson. He is still a celebrity, now manipulating the media for postage stamps. (used as inmate currency). Marlin promised a lot more, delivered a lot less. It is still the same old worn out story-Charles Manson is being victimized by the rest of the world. Only in the U.S. can this monster live in a penthouse and continue using people like Mr. Marynick to further his agenda. So now Manson is a tree hugger. How lame. The writing is disconnected with no real point aside from describing the butality of living behind bars. Should I congradulate Mr. Maynick for his hard work and writing journalistic savvy in getting an interview with Manson or Mr. Manson for his manipulating another writer into presenting Manson's human side? I do not reccomend this piece of crap and insist on a refund. A one star rating is being generous.

Well written and insightful. I don't believe the AK 47 was souly the work of the Russion Sargent who's name it bears, but the book is good reading anyway. By 1943 the German army had developed and were using a weapon that bears a suspicious (and down right striking resemblence) to the AK. I have fired this gun and it is everything advertised-simple-reliable-cheap to produce-readily available-and a killing machine.

Not worth the money. Disconnected. Rambling and wordy. Full of the constant promise of a good story to come, but sadly never does. I have trouble giving this audio book a two star rating. Far too over blown by the publisher and audiobooks. Rip-off and false avertising come to mind. Did not like it. Don't reccomend it-at all.
