The Star Kingdom has a new generation of officers! And this elite group hand-picked and trained by Honor Harrington herself is going to be needed immediately, as their first assignment turns out to be more dangerous than anyone expected. What was supposed to be a quiet outpost, far from the blazing conflict between the Star Kingdom of Manticore and the People's Republic of Haven has actually been targeted by an unholy alliance between the slaveholders of Manpower.

I love the Honor Harrington series, and I downloaded this book thinking I would love it too.. I just can't stand the reading of it... Jay Synder's female voices drove me crazy... In the Harrington series Allyson Johnson read the series, and although I had to get use to her male voices, it was do able I could listen to the whole book. I'll try to listen to it again sometime down the road...

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

I've stopped at Chapter 6... I've been listening to this for a couple hours, and realized that I haven't pay one bit of attention to it.I listen at work, and 99% of the time I can follow along with anything, but this book, just didn't capture me, so it was relegated to background noise.I might try and listen to it again some other time, but today it was a bust, and a waste.

What didn’t you like about Ax Norman’s performance?

I can't quite put it into words... Maybe its the fact that all the characters are the same voice... There wasn't any changes in its reading to cause me to notice... It just kinda droned on... I think that's why I just didn't get into listening to this book.

Then something very bad happens to one of the Earthings, and with that, the relationship between humanity’s two factions is on the cusp of disruption once more. It’s a race to find out what really happened, and who is to blame. "The Observers" is a tale from John Scalzi's The Human Division, a series of self-contained but interrelated short stories set in the Old Man's War universe.

Would you listen to The Observers again? Why?

    I just love the characters...

    Any additional comments?

It drives me crazy to be spoon fed these little bits on at a time... Waiting for the next installment is torture... I thought of waiting until all the pieces are out, then downloading them all in to one play list.. But as soon as I see one is out, I just have to have my fix...

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

I finished the book, but was left with an empty experience..

What did you like best about this story?

The idea of combining different races, to work together as one unit.

What aspect of Gary Telles’s performance would you have changed?

The story was read with little impact. I just couldn't get the feeling of the moments.. From boring moments to battle... Everything was read with the same level. It was like I was listening to someone reading an inventory list.

What did you like best about Newton's Ark? What did you like least?

The story itself is great, but the narration wasn't a good fit.

What didn’t you like about Yvonne Matta’s performance?

The recorded inhales before some of the paragraphs or chapters. Her accent didn't quite fit the characters.

Is there anything you would change about this book?

I am not sure if this will happen in the following books... But a great deal of this book was spent retelling of the 1st book. Then towards the end, we start retelling information again! Then Were done!

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

It made me write this review....

Did The Cost of Victory inspire you to do anything?

Weigh the facts of the potential of this series to the delivery of it! Do I want to continue and chance purchasing another filler, or give up before I waste more money....

If you could sum up Orphan's Triumph in three words, what would they be?

    Abrupt... Thin... Ending...

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

Unless there is going to be number 6, a little more closer...

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes I enjoyed the book... It carried me on through out the whole series. The action and the story kept me listening constantly.... It was a book that I enjoyed getting back to.

The Omega Theory opens with media reports that, despite U.S. warnings, Iran has tested a nuclear bomb. But the blast from the device is different and far more dangerous than that of any previous nuclear weapon. Surveillance instruments show that for one split second an event occurred that had not taken place since the Big Bang 14 billion years ago.

Marsalis is one of a new breed...literally. Genetically engineered by the U.S. government to embody the naked aggression and primal survival skills that centuries of civilization have erased from humankind, Thirteens were intended to be the ultimate military fighting force. The project was scuttled, however, when a fearful public branded the supersoldiers dangerous mutants, dooming the Thirteens to forced exile on Earth's distant, desolate Mars colony. But Marsalis found a way to slip back.
