The story talks about first contact between humans and Vulcans, but tells a story quite different from what was told in the television series. It made it harder for me to accept the story. I don't know if I would have enjoyed it better if I didn't know the tv series' version of events.
I really wish they wouldn't abridge the Star Trek books. They cut so much out. It feels like they dump two-thirds of the written book. You don't get to know the characters, and the story is over before you realize it started. I can only hope that the unabridged version was more enjoyable, despite the clashing "history" of first contact.
The best part: hearing George Takei and Leonard Nimoy.
I loved it the movie watch and read along and listen and ramius. and barbie.
The story is well-written. The pace and plot hold you tight, making it hard to pause the book for any reason. But hey, one night of lost sleep won't hurt too bad! You KNOW you want to find out what will happen next. You'll laugh at times. You may even have to use kleenex to wipe that wetness leaking from your eyes. The narrator does a perfect job of bringing the characters to life.
Yes, this book is worth your monthly credit. I bet you'll listen to this one more than once.
