"boring"
The book is twice as long as it needs to be, full of useless repetition. The story itself is not all that interesting or intriguing. Maybe the translation is partly to blame. I did not enjoy the voice of the narrator - too much of a drone and a little whiney sometimes. I can't really recommend this book.
"A great book"
This book is a real pleasure to listen to. I have also purchased part 2 and 3 because I want more. I have meanwhile purchased the printed books as well, so that I can dip into them from time to time. The narrator reads very well, although it took me a little time to get used to the style - a little vague sometimes. But overall listening to this book was a really great experience.
"A fun who dun-nit"
This is a nice little who dun-nit. Well read with a variety of voices. The story keeps a good pace and makes sense.
"Very interesting, beautifully read"
Here is one book that works better in audio format than on paper. The narrator is able to read just about any language well and clearly and therefore manages to help the listener understand where the examples in foreign languages fit in the English language. The book itself is informative and at the same time quite entertaining. Highly recommended if you are at all interested in the English language and the origin of words. I learned many things I did not know.
"A well told exciting book"
This is very well narrated. I will be looking for other books told by this narrator. The story is exciting, interesting, informative and well worth investing in. I got hours and hours of enjoyment out of it, although I do not usually go for the 'easy' reads, this one was superb holiday listening.
"A fun light listen"
This is a fun book to listen to, quite light weight, but well written and very well narrated. I enjoyed it very much.
"Very amusing; well read"
I am pleased the reader is English, but for Americans this may not be as pleasing. I really enjoyed the interpretation and characterisation of the voices. It added much to the humour of the story. I never managed to read the book, but now dip back into it to read back favourite passages. This was my first foray into audio books and I declare it a huge success.
