"A Must Read"
This was a devastating and beautiful book--extremely well done. Worth the energy and emotion you expend as a reader. The reading is also very well done. Added much to the experience. This is the kind of book that should be heard, not silently read.
"Not just funny"
I just finished the book and was enchanted.
I agree with reviewers who talk about how funny the book is. But I was definitely moved. I like to think that more of us have a fat Charlie inside--or a Spider. Folks who have a little nerve to live better, be better, more imaginative, more generous. Even Rosie's Mom has her moments. Narrative is imaginative. The impulse is generous.
I also loved Gaiman's The Day I Swapped My Dad for Two Goldfish and American Heroes. Check out Neil Gaiman.
"No better"
No better writer than George Eliot. No better book than Middlemarch.
