It is quite different than the movie. Some parts are similar, sometimes things that happened at the beginning of the movie happen at the end of the book and vice versa. I liked the characters a lot more, in the book, as there was plenty of time to flesh them out and get into their issues.

This all being said, I might have had a difficult time understanding the magical side of things, the house in 4 places, the change, Calcifer, the scarecrow... without having seen the movie first. Personally, I'm glad I saw it first, then read the book. I was so much more pleased with it then had it been the other way around.

The movie had it's own agenda, which wasn't in this book at all, and that was the war. I mean, war was suggested as a possibility in the future, but that wasn't the point of the book. And honestly, that annoyed me in the movie. The book, instead, focused on characters, vibrant descriptions, mystery and excitement.

Quite good and very enjoyable. :)

I was recommended this book by a teenage boy, and I was more than skeptical. I wasn't sure about the concept, and frankly, after The Hunger Games, I didn't really want to get involved in another YA series. I'm 29, and I like meat in my stories.

I had some extra credits and was going on a road trip so I downloaded it.

VERY surprised.

It's compared too much to The Hunger Games (which is why I was so reluctant to read it at first tbh) but it's really nothing like. The only similarities really are the fact that a girl is the main character, it's a dystopian society, and I guess the 5 factions COULD be compared to the 12 districts. But other than that, it's completely different.

I fell right in and found the character of Triss to be quite believable. Four also became a favorite character. Sometimes Triss seemed incredibly naive, especially for someone who was supposed to be Divergent, but it's ok. I didn't mind so much. It was fun, sad, sweet, infuriating, mysterious and full of action. I highly recommend it.

warning: there is some lovey dovey stuff that got a bit tiresome. Other than that, great. :)

Usually when I get a Christian Fiction Romance, I don't expect much. I listen to them when I want a light-hearted easy listen, so I don't mind that usually, the characters are shallowly written, a very liberal view of Christianity is portrayed, or that the story is predictable, simple, and even boring or stupid.

This book GREATLY surprised me. The main character had MULTIPLE layers, and was very relatable and spunky, but far from perfect. She had a past, she was still dealing with things, and feeling her way through her relationship with God. Yes, it had its silliness and of course it's somewhat predictable moments but it was incredibly sweet and poignant as well. I laughed out loud, I teared-up (almost cried, but didn't), and I learned some things.

This book was not only entertaining, but encouraging, and for a last minute "why the heck not" purchase right after my membership had renewed and I had a bunch of credits burning a hole in my pocket, I am very very happy I took the chance on it. It's probably going to be a repeat listen, and I certainly want to look for more from this author.

If you're not a Christian, this book might not be for you, but I really really enjoyed it. Recommended to Christian women, and HIGHLY recommended to single Christian women.(And as a 29 year old single Christian woman I know how annoying these books can be sometimes, and this certainly was not one of those.)

I am so glad that this is finally available on Audible! The book is one of my favorites, great all ages. Full of elves, dwarfs, dragons, wizards, goblins, giant spiders... Absolutely fun and engrossing.

I love the narrator as well. He brings the characters to life and his voice is very pleasant to listen to.

Anyone can, and should, enjoy this book. It was written for everyone! As another reviewer said, this is a book (and series) that defined the genre of fantasy. I can't wait to listen to all of them.

And THANK YOU Audible for, when finally releasing the series, and knowing it would be popular, having each book only 1 credit. Certainly worth more, but it means that people who haven't read these amazing books are more likely to take the leap and find themselves enchanted.

I plan on fully enjoying the next 65 hours and 17 minutes of my listening.

I first read Jane Eyre as a 12 year old in 7th grade. I enjoyed the romance between Jane and Rochester, I laughed and the gypsy scene, and I took a very black and white view on the story. I related more to the openly fiery Jane of 10.

At 16, I read it again, but I skipped over parts, reading the romantic scenes and skipping the less showy parts. Sadly, looking back, I probably related more to Blanche. I imagined Jane as pretty and Rochester as handsome, ignoring the author's desire that her heroine be plain.

At 19, Jane Eyre became my favorite book. I read it with the full understanding of an adult female, the heartache, the injustice, the being torn in two and the fullness of a love that had to wait. I read it at work, a big mistake seeing as I cried my eyes out. I've read this book many times since then, and each time I discover something new.

Whenever I come across a copy of this book I don't have, I buy it. I have like, 6 different copies on my bookshelf! lol. So of course, when I had the chance to have a copy of this in audiobook form, I thought, "why not!?" This was the first true audiobook I ever listened to, and it didn't disappoint. Susan Ericksen did an AMAZING job of portraying the characters, speaking flawless French, and made the story come alive in a way I never knew it could. That copy was a free one that I received from a friend in CD form. After I joined audible, I searched through ALL the versions of Jane Eyre available to find THIS one, and I bought it again.

The story is timeless, engrossing, engaging, and challenging. In life situations, Jane's words have come back to me, her strength of character and being true to herself and her convictions adding to my own strength. Full of mystery, romance, desire, subdued passion, sadness, angst, horror and heartache. I highly recommend this book to all lovers of literature, especially this brilliant [Brilliance Edition].

I love how it kept up the suspense and action as well as the love story. The multiple side characters were developed as well as the 2 main ones, and I'm all about characters in a story. Nobody was left out. There's just so much to consider in this book. I really enjoyed it a lot.

Karen Witemeyer's other books are probably the best comparisons. This one was great, and probably ties with my favorite "To Win Her Heart."

Well, other than the main 2, I really enjoyed Crockett. His character in the book just shone, and when he would say something, you knew it was him before they said it was. I think the narrator totally captured his character's mischievous sparkle.

Yes, and I mostly did too. I listened to it in about 2 or 3 sittings, all within a 24 hour period of time. I'd been waiting for it to become available, and I just couldn't make myself wait till my next road trip.

As a Christian historical fiction romance, this book was exceptional. Karen Witemeyer has become one of my new favorite Christian authors, writing romances between two godly Christians in mature, realistic, and godly relationships. I hate when characters in a book "missionary date," and Karen Witemeyer, for me, has tapped into a new way of writing Christian romance. It gets us out of the rut of thinking that we have to get the one we love saved before we can marry them... and into the "radical" thinking of not falling for anyone who doesn't love Christ. Her books don't rely on the need for conflict between the characters (there is that, but it's not the main conflict in the books), and adds a full story, background, intelligent and creative side characters, and action happening around the main characters that moves the story along at a sometimes exciting and sometimes easy pace. I am really enjoying her books, and though I know this one was just released, I eagerly await her next, whenever that might be.

Inspiration, Strength, Love

I fell in love with Levi right along with the main character, and I can't explain why without giving away too much of the book!

She did very well... but as a Texan, I heard more of the eastern southern belle accent in her characters than a southern Texas accent. Other than that, I enjoyed her pace of reading and her representation of the characters.

I laughed out loud at certain moments, and yes, I got teary eyed towards the end.

I like how this book incorporated so many things! Romance, of course, but also forgiveness, prejudice, class distinction, violence... and so much more. As I read/listen to more of Karen Witemeyer's books, I can see her growth and her passion for the Lord. The characters are in real relationships, they deal with real issues, but they work through things, talk to each other, and get through things together. Issues in this book as well as her other's could have been taken in a petty, silly, or superficial way, but she manages to circumvent such literary traps and creates a very enjoyable, intriguing and romantic stories that can be enjoyed without having to roll my eyes at certain parts. I highly recommend her, and can't wait until her new book comes out.

Well, I've listened to almost 100 books, so I can't really rank it in that respect, but it's definitely in the top 20.

When the little girl starts talking again after her father is shot. It's poignant, and literally brought me to tears. It's either that moment or the moment when the main character is attacked in the barn.

Nicole Poole is great! I enjoyed her reading of Tailor Made Bride, but even more so Head in the Clouds. She gets the English accents spot on for those characters, where I've listened to some books where the narrator leaves it out comopletely, which makes it confusing. It's also hard to read something and hear the accent as you read it, so in that respect, you get more out of the audiobook.

As much as I'd love to take a handsome, rich, English Lord out to dinner, I would have to say Adelaid. I share this character's love of literature, and was pleasantly surprised to hear Jane Eyre (my favorite novel of all time bar none) referenced a few times throughout the book.

This book has way more going for it than the summary can say. It was surprise after surprise, event after event, and the strength of the main character comes through in many different ways. It's a fictional story, but I can imagine the scenarios actually happening with the characters. A real romance grows, and there is real danger in the story, and real sadness. I actually cried during this book, which is a rare thing for me. Karen Witemeyer has become a new favorite Christian Romance author, and I highly recommend her. With each book, her growth in writing is becoming apparent, and I can't wait to see how her career goes. I'm certainly going to keep up with her.

I never read the print version, so I don't know. I don't really think one would be better than the other though.

The whole section when J.T. goes out to search for Hannah in the storm, and the little bit afterwards. It's incredibly romantic and sweet. Very touching.

The laughter and fun that you might just skip over when reading. You can see the smirks and smiles as she's reading.

It's a great title, honestly, and I can't think of anything to change it too... Maybe A Tailor-Made Romance, instead of Bride.

I'm really glad I took the chance on this one. I've now discovered a new Christian author that I have come to enjoy. After listening to this book, I bought her other two, and I'm incredibly happy to have done so. This being Karen Witemeyer's first book, you can really see how she's growing in her writing. Head in the Clouds was great, as was To Win Her Heart.

The thing I love most about her books is that the relationships are real. The main characters don't beat around the bush or let little petty misunderstandings get in the way of things. Sure there are things to work through, but it's incredibly sweet. I highly recommend A Tailor-Made Bride. :)

It was a bit draining listening to this book. I enjoyed the following series by Dee Henderson a lot more than this one. Yes, it gave me a bit of an insight into a couple of the characters in The Negotiator, but other than that, I kind of wish I hadn't read it. However, I'm glad I didn't read it first, or else I might not have continued listening to the O'Malley Series... which was really good.

The mystery was very interesting, with the stalker, the kidnapping, the danger. However, there was so little danger through the entire story that it just dragged on and on and on. The romance was great, but it took over the whole story and the mystery, which was the most interesting part, took a beating. It needed to be more in the forefront. Yes, Sarah was really really scared and scarred from her experiences, but it seems like the reader is just beaten over the head with it.

Accents. I had issues with this with the rest of the O'Malley Series as well. He's a good narrator, but he just didn't do British accents... at all. It was awkward when the character spoke, clearly a normal american accent, and another character would comment on the British accent. It was like, what accent!? What did I miss!? It's one I wish I could have read, because I could have at least imagined it correctly.

Not really, though it should have.

I enjoyed this book, I'm not sorry I read it, but it just dragged. PLEASE don't let this deter you from reading her other books in the O'Malley Series. This one was just a bit disjointed.
