I read the story several years ago and then say the movie. Obviously I was disappointed with the movie. Recently saw the movie again and decided to read the book again. What a great book, I love the reader, have listened to him with other books, he is wonderful. I encourage ALL to read or listen to this book.

Tommy and his sister Annika have a new neighbor, and her name is Pippi Longstocking. She has crazy red pigtails, no parents to tell her what to do, a horse that lives on the porch and a pet monkey named Mr. Nilsson. Whether Pippi's scrubbing her floors, doing arithmetic or stirring things up at a fancy tea party, her flair for the outrageous always seems to lead to another adventure.

You wonder as you start how can this happen, how can a family give up a child knowing it has happened before and the outcome. Some how you are drawn in by, "maybe not this time".... yet the curiosity gets you and step by step yout are drawn in. Great story, that's how you get drawn in.

In the Houses of Montague and Capulet, there is only one goal: power. The boys are born to fight and die for honor and-if they survive-marry for influence and money, not love. The girls are assets, to be spent wisely. Their wishes are of no import. Their fates are written on the day they are born.Benvolio Montague, cousin to Romeo, knows all this. He expects to die for his cousin, for his house, but a spark of rebellion still lives inside him.

It's just a small story really, about, among other things, a girl, some words, an accordionist, some fanatical Germans, a Jewish fist-fighter, and quite a lot of thievery. Set during World War II in Germany, Markus Zusak's groundbreaking new novel is the story of Liesel Meminger, a foster girl living outside of Munich. Liesel scratches out a meager existence for herself by stealing when she encounters something she can't resist: books.

Aminata Diallo is the beguiling heroine of Lawrence Hill's Someone Knows My Name. In it, Hill exquisitely imagines the tale of an 18th-century woman's life, spanning six decades and three continents. The fascinating story that Hill tells is a work of the soul and the imagination. Aminata is a character who will stir listeners, from her kidnapping from Africa through her journeys back and forth across the ocean.

It is hard to say what I liked best, I have been reading and learning about the slave trade and this sounded like it might be informational. WOW was it ever, the first hand accounts, the details, the trails, the shear honesty, and the pain. I couldn't stop, few books do I have going until it is done. This just kept pushing me on! I had to know what would happen next. Do I recommend it, YES! Is it painful at times to listen, YES! I felt like the reader was alive in the character. It was long and gruesome at times, I longed for something good to come of her life, well worth every hour spent.

Nicola Marter was born with a gift. When she touches an object, she sometimes glimpses those who have owned it before. When a woman arrives with a small wooden carving at the gallery Nicola works at, she can see the object’s history and knows that it was named after the Firebird - the mythical creature from an old Russian fable. Compelled to know more, Nicola follows a young girl named Anna who leads her into the past on a quest through the glittering backdrops of the Jacobites and Russian courts, unearthing a tale of love, courage, and redemption.

When I started the book didn't realize it was a sequel so it was a pleasent surprise to find it was and what a great book to sequel. The Winter Sea read it twice before I could put it down and thought I have to read this author again, had read The Rose Garden first, so I am sure, you can see a pattern.

What a great story, the twists and turns to get to the knowledge of The Firebird. Ms Kearsley definitely knows her history and when she started talking about St Petersburg well, I have traveled there myself and I felt like I was right back to one of my most favorite places in the world. The depictions was so much like I remember and the things I loved about the city were in the book. It was wonderful! Definitely a MUST READ. Another word would be enthralling, I could barely put it down when I had to.

At first I thought Ms Kellgren was a little cold and matter of fact after reading the other two books. As I finished I warmed up to her, her accents were spot on I thought, but the narrative seemed cold. Just her way I guess, Really enjoyed the book, well worth the read!

History has all but forgotten.... In the spring of 1708, an invading Jacobite fleet of French and Scottish soldiers nearly succeeded in landing the exiled James Stewart in Scotland to reclaim his crown. Now, Carrie McClelland hopes to turn that story into her next best-selling novel. Settling herself in the shadow of Slains Castle, she creates a heroine named for one of her own ancestors and starts to write. But then she discovers her novel is more fact than fiction....
