The self-proclaimed Sun King, Louis XIV, ruled over the most glorious and extravagant court in 17th-century Europe. Now, Antonia Fraser goes behind the well-known tales of Louis' accomplishments and follies, exploring in riveting detail his intimate relationships with women.

    Louise says: "Excellent!"
    "Wonderful Listen"
    Overall

The book is a little slow in the beginning but once it gets going...it's an amazing journey. Hearing about the loves of Louis makes you realize how constrained life was for women. Some were major influences, others just toys to entertain a king. If you enjoy the detail of how daily life was for the king and his ladies this is the book for you.

If you could sum up Gateway in three words, what would they be?

    Fun easy listen

Have you listened to any of Oliver Wyman and Robert J. Sawyer ???s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I haven't listen to either sawyer or wyman. I would love to hear more from them.

    Any additional comments?

The characters in the book were enjoyable. It was such a pleasure to like the characters, have an interesting plot. It was so much fun listening to the therapy sessions and exciting to find out why the plot plays out the way it does. Please bring more of the series.

Emma Hamilton was England's first superstar. She fought her way out of dire poverty to become a fashion icon, an Ambassador's wife, a confidante of both Marie Antoinette and the Queen of Naples, and the mistress of Lord Nelson, England's greatest military hero.

    "Good Entertainment"

I find the author fills in details that are probably assumed. Yet overall it's entertaining to look back in time at this famous women. Emma is an intertesting character who climbed the social ladder. She was one brave lady.
