I just finished this audio book. I'm stunned...Narration was meticulous. Story and characters were brilliant. Absolutely enjoyable from beginning to end.
I wanted to like this book. The characters were unbearable and shallow to me. I listened to about an hour and gave up.
I loved this story and narration. Why haven't I read all of this author's books? I will now - I promise. Wonderful characters, settings, descriptions....all of it! I'd even listen again, which is very very rare for me.
Joe Barrett narrates with great tone, speed and expression. Also listen to 'A Prayer for Owen Meany' for more from this narrator.
This novel took me back to the 80s with reference to the lavish decor and excess shoulder paddage. Characters are well defined and interesting enough to keep one's attention throughout. Loved it!
