I always enjoy Coben books and was looking forward to his newest book.

He is too dramatic about everything. About 2 hours from the end of this book I almost gave up and quit listening. We have listened to many books by Brick, however, this is the first one I almost could not make it through. I agree with some of the other reviews, too much of the narration is over the top.

This is not one of my favorite Harlan Coben books. I will read the next, but it may be the last if it isn't better.

So far Griffen has written 43 books about the military divided into 6 segments of 7 to ten books each. The book were written from1982 to 2012. He spends way too much time bringing readers up to date on previous books. If you are a pilot or air traffic controller please do not throw your listening device on the floor and stomp it. Phraesology is the worst ever. He needs helpers in this area.

Reading some of the first reviews, I thought I should continue reading. Then I got to the ones who said what I was already thinking. I will quit wasting my time. Scott Brick can be too breathy and dramatic; and this is a perfect example. Not every paragraph can be that dramatic. I got very tired of it. Then when the author commented on "the middle class instead of the rich a**h***s;" I knew I was out of my element. That wasn't necessary.

I am sure Hurwitz/Brick will be a big hit, just not with us. I made it about 2 hours.

I did not like this book and I don't really understand the thrill most people seem to have gotten from it. I haven't finished, but I will. I dread picking it up because there are other books I want to read, but I do want to find out how it ends. The characters are all pretty unlikeable. We normally enjoy Scott Brick, but I have just gotten really tired of this one. I was going to get the Fifth Assassin when I saw this was the first in the series. I won't get the next one. A friend was reading the Fifth Assassin and disliked it so he donated it to the library. He said he had read Inner Circle and barely made it through also. I guess I am just not a fan. It really seems to drag for me.

The story was completely unrealistic. I just don't think the CIA & Secret Service would acquiesce to a lawyer and a security person to let them handle a terrorist threatening 2 presidents. The kids having luck fall in their laps. The bomb experts having a crowd around as they do their work. It was a shallow and frustrating.

Go back to the old Stone Barrington. He was arrogant but you had to like him. We didn't even like him in this book.

No, we didn't like his "lady voice." We didn't like Dino sounding like a thug. And we didn't like the music coming on at strange times. The music reminded us of an old radio show, but it didn't fit.

I guess there was something redeeming about it because we finished it. Both of us really couldn't wait to have it over with. We paid for it so we muttled through it.

I like the Masie Dobbs series, but the previous books I enjoyed more. This reader was too breathy.
