Well written. Well read, very original story. Felt bad for Dr. Impossible though...the heroes needed a more significant beat down.

Only a handful of people in the world know that mankind's magic comes from a living creature, and it is a refugee from another universe. The Power showed up here in the 1850s because it was running from something. Now it is 1933, and the Power's hiding place has been discovered by a killer. It is a predator that eats magic and leaves destroyed worlds in its wake. Earth is next. Former private eye Jake Sullivan knows the score. The problem is, hardly anyone believes him.

This is an awesome ending (or is it?) to a wonderful series. Mr. Correia brings it home with non-stop action, as our heroes joined by an unlikely ally fight an enemy bent on sucking the entire planet dry of life.

Dark fantasy goes hardboiled in Book II of the hard-hitting Grimnoir Chronicles by the New York Times best-selling creator of Monster Hunter International. The Grimnoir Society’s mission is to protect people with magic, and they’ve done so—successfully and in secret—since the mysterious arrival of the Power in the 1850s, but when a magical assassin makes an attempt on the life of President Franklin Roosevelt, the crime is pinned on the Grimnoir.

Another great read in Mr. Correia's epic world of altered history where magic is real and a few lucky, or unlucky souls, possess it. This book adds new enemies for our heroes to fight. Enemies from an unlikely source, our own government.

Jake Sullivan is a licensed private eye with a seriously hardboiled attitude. He also possesses raw magical talent and the ability to make objects in his vicinity light as a feather or as heavy as depleted uranium, all with a magical thought. It's no wonder the G-men turn to Jake when they need someoneto go after a suspected killer who has been knocking off banks in a magic-enhanced crime spree.

Mr. Correia does it again. I have become a big fan, and I approach each of his new series with trepidation expecting a disappointment. I was far from disappointed. This series is as good as Mr. Correia other series. It re-writes history and covers it with a blanket of magic. Any fans of super powered heroes fighting super powered foes will love these books. The characters are great and the action is furious as the author manages to pull you into his new imaginary world while keeping you on your toes with plot shifts. I gave the performance a 4 instead of a 5 because the narrator, from time to time, reads with a certain sarcasm. This sarcasm does not fit the characters he's narrating. It is not frequent, but it can be quite distracting.

For over five thousand years, there were always three binding rules for all Masters of Sinanju: 1) Payment is always in gold. No checks. 2) There is only one Master and one pupil. 3) No woman will ever be trained in Sinanju. Sunny Joe Roam will throw the last two rules out the window in order to fulfill his tribe's oldest commitment. What did you love best about Legacy?

The authors' over the top sense of politcal humor.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Senate hopeful Liz Warren because she's exemplifies how many people view politicians. Mainly she thinks she is smarter than everyone, is entitled, and will do anything to get elected.

What does the narrators bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

This is a full blown production with sound effects, multiple voices, and mood music. It brought the book alive. It made it almost like an audible action comic book.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, like most of the Destroyer series, it was relatively short. So, it kept you involved. It's almost as if it was meant for one sitting.

    Any additional comments?

The Destroyer Series is a long time favorite of mine. I wish Audible had more of these books available. (I have seen some on tapes...yes cassette tapes, at truck stops, yet Audible only has 2 available. I believe GraphicAudio has done many more.

Agent Franks of the U.S. Monster Control Bureau is a man of many parts - parts from other people, that is. Franks is nearly seven feet tall and all muscle. He's nearly indestructible. Plus he’s animated by a powerful alchemical substance and inhabited by a super-intelligent spirit more ancient than humanity itself. Good thing he’s on our side. More or less.

Would you listen to Monster Hunter Nemesis again? Why?

Yes, actually, I am considering starting the entire series over. Just to see if there was anything I missed with this badass federal agent in previous books.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Monster Hunter Nemesis?

The truck in the cargo plane scene. I will leave it at that.

What about Oliver Wyman’s performance did you like?

He does an excellent job of character variations, especially when some of the characters are monsters.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Agent Franks has become public enemy number one.
Now, the feds are hunting him, super soldiers infused with demons want him dead, and monster hunters from around the world want to take a shot at this once legendary agent.
All this does is make him mad.

    Any additional comments?

Larry Correia never ceases to surprise me with each of his novels. They might be heaping helpings of bullets mixed with testosterone, but in this feel good age, us men need our anti-twilight series reads. Where monsters are still monsters, and someone needs to put them down. I have expanded out from MHI to his other books. Nope, still not disappointed. (Except when they end, and I have to wait for him to finish his next in the series.)

Would you consider the audio edition of Slave Safari to be better than the print version?

Actually, yes, the performance is excellent.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Slave Safari?

Chuin demanding to find the Washington Pollsters because his Soaps were cancelled to broadcast Watergate coverage.

    Which scene was your favorite?

Remo "eliminating" 2 companies of men, de-tusking several elephants, and disabling six jeeps, all while naked.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

The Sun Source of Martial Arts comes to Africa.

    Any additional comments?

Please add more of these to Audible. They are great chunks of entertainment.

Listen to this book and send your nonverbal intelligence soaring. Joe Navarro, a former FBI counterintelligence officer and a recognized expert on nonverbal behavior, explains how to "speed-read" people: decode sentiments and behaviors, avoid hidden pitfalls, and look for deceptive behaviors. You'll also learn how your body language can influence what your boss, family, friends, and strangers think of you.

This is a great cornerstone book on reading people. You will be amazed what you notice. I play poker, and it has already helped notice, what I do wrong as well as others. It also will make watching all kinds of people way more interesting, including politicians, teachers, and litigants on court TV shows. Very useful and entertaining.

Suppose there really were vampires. Dark, stalking, destroying. They’d have to be killed, wouldn’t they? Of course they would. But what kind of fools would try to make a living at it? In best-selling author John Steakley's vampire classic, one tightly knit band of brothers devotes itself to hunting down the monsters that infest the modern world—for a price.

I Don't Have Enough Faith to Be an Atheist argues that Christianity requires the least faith of all worldviews because it is the most reasonable. The authors lay out the evidence for truth, God, and the Bible in logical order and in a readable, non-technical, engaging style. A valuable aid to those interested in examining the reasonableness of the Christian faith, Geisler and Turek provide a firm challenge to the prior beliefs of doubters and skeptics.

    Overall

Some valid and interesting arguements, but there are also some major loopholes. Stick with Lee Strobel for some scientific points of views, and C.S. Lewis for philosophical arguements. In my opinion, they do a more tidy job on a subject that should still be something that to which you draw your own conclusions. The book does get one thinking, however...especially when "people", mainly "intellectuals" tell everyone how it is...investigate for yourself, research and weigh the options.

For 15 year-old Wisty and her older brother, Whit, life turns upside-down when they are hauled out of bed one night, separated from their parents, and thrown into a secret compound for no reason they can comprehend, except that the new government is clearly trying to suppress Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness.

    Overall

I wish I read the reviews before I downloaded this pasture steamer. Why do accomplished authors try to bludgeon their ways into currently popular genres? I have read several J. Patterson's books, and he's way better than this. This is nothing more than a miserable failed attempt at getting into the “Adolescent Twilight, the supernatural isn’t scary, it’s cool and romantic” genre. I have tried many such books, and I hated them all, and this is the worst, by far.
