"Wonderful from beginning to end"
This is a fine classic novel, narrated superbly. I highly recommend it to all lovers of English literature.
"Don't waste your time"
It seems you get decreasing returns with this series. "The Clan of the Cave Bear" was great fun, "Valley of the Horses" was pretty good fun, and "The Mammoth Hunters" was fun enough to not make you want a refund of what you paid for it. "The Plains of Passage," has left the realm of fun and headed straight into Yawnsville. It's dreadfully boring, with far too many overwrought sex scenes and descriptions of native fauna and flora. If you have been caught up into the series, as I was, and now find you have to keep going, as I did, do yourself a favor and skip past "Plains of Passage" straight to "The Shelters of Stone." You won't be missing anything of any importance if you do so.
"Glad I listened"
I was unsure whether or not to purchase this book because while I love Dickens, I've not been so impressed with some of his minor works. I just finished "Little Dorrit" and am happy to say I'm glad I heeded the recommendations of the listener-reviewers here. It was highly enjoyable with some very amusing characters. If you like Dickens, you'll like this effort.
"Who doesn't love Jeeves?"
Okay, so maybe the narrator sounded a bit old to be narrating this, but it was still very enjoyable. You can't beat P.G. Wodehouse for a light and fun read.
"Repetitive"
Book is okay, but could have used some major editing. Auel repeats herself too often. Can be annoying. Even more annoying is that suddenly the reader has made Ayla speak like she's Natasha the Russian spy on "Bullwinkle and Rocky." Bizarre.
