Although not as widely known as some of his other works, Dombey and Son is nevertheless one of the greatest novels by Charles Dickens. It was published in installments between 1847 and 1848, when Dickens was at the height of his powers, and it marks a transition into a more mature style from his early period of success.

    Overall

Dickens' characters are a delight. I'm enjoying it tremendously. I'm going to be both glad and sorry when it's over at the end of Volume 3: glad to have all of the plots and subplots resolved; but sad to leave the very special world which Dickens has constructed.

    "What fun!!"
    Overall

Listening to good quality dramas starring Orson Wells, John Wayne, Bela Lugosi and others was wonderful. Equally enjoyable was listening to the commercials urging us to buy Camels cigarettes for 30 days because "doctors have found them to cause absolutely no throat irritation". This set is a winner!
