The story and characters are a bit too self rightgeous and self involved.
He could realize that we could respect the characters, what they do and what they represent without hitting us over the head with it over and over and over again. Secondarily, I wish some of these authors who write in this genre who easily embrace the existence and power of evil, ignore the possibility of good having some power. Lastly he could learn that the tired stereotypes of people ethnicity.
Excellent voice and cadence. It is the only thing that allow me to finish the book.
Disappointment. It is a good premise and had promise, but it just went to the typical place instead of taking it somewhere new and fresh.
Don't know if this will be a series or not, but it won't be for me.
All of the characters are fleshed out in a manner that you have feeling about all of them. Good and bad. Love how the book also reveals unknown facts about the Halo universe that makes things so clear going back to the very beginning, the first Book about Halo.
Can't say just one. Love BB. Arrogant AI who thinks he is the smartest thing in the universe, but still is mistified by the how and why of the humans around him. Yet continually shows his human origin. Love OSDs, Naomi, Oz, .. all of them.
Excellent injection of emotion and urgency. Great variances of voices when speaking as different characters. He pulled you further into an already great story.
If you are a fan of the HALO series.. not just this series but the whole universe, this book is a must read along with the previous two. This one is the icing on the cake. It some ways it closes some chapters, but it also opens the door to other possibilities. Remember, there is something out there that was alive before the Forerunners. We could gain their notice again and we are not ready.
When I first found Simon R. Green and the Nightside, I thought I had found a fun unique universe. Dark and unusual characters. That was 7 years ago. But there is no growth to the characters. Book after book it the same thing. Lord of this. Brother of that. Hungry Gods and outsiders. It just feels mailed in. All of his books are these vignette of John Taylor threatening people with his gift or black pepper. Maybe I need a break from his worlds and can come back to theme later.. much later. Listening to this book I felt like I was cheated.
