"Good book, wrong title"
I'm a fan of Durant's works, but this book is mis-named! It should have been called something like 'History of the World from 30,000 feet'. I figured someone with Durant's vast knowledge would have hand-picked some of the greatest hero stories of history to comprise this volume. Not so.
"Profane"
If you love to hear from a writer that can't describe the action without extreme profanity, this is your book
"Great story, bad language"
I found the first part of the story to be very engaging. I didn't listen to all of it due to bad language (frequent F- words, etc.). I hold little respect for an author who chooses to write in profanity - even when quoting someone. It is just as easy to paraphrase, maintain dignity, and convey the appropriate sentiment. Two stars for the author's lack in this regard.
"What a pity"
This could have been a beautiful story. Frank endured things which can make one great. I would warn anyone looking for a soul-inspiring story that this book, while generally a wonderful story, is littered with crassness, and disgusting episodes of self indulgence.
"Five stars from the whole family"
This narrative offers something for parents and children alike. I was surprised that even our 4 year old son asks to listen to Cheaper By the Dozen. Entertaining and inspiring!
