For a thousand years her existence has been denied. She is the legend that will not die - Pope Joan, the ninth-century woman who disguised herself as a man and rose to become the only female ever to sit on the throne of St. Peter. Now in this riveting novel, Donna Woolfolk Cross paints a sweeping portrait of an unforgettable heroine who struggles against restrictions her soul cannot accept.

Would you listen to Pope Joan again? Why?

I loved listening to this book. Makes you wonder! The reader was perfect for this book - I could picture the scenes in my head as she painted the story. This book is definitely a Catholic conspiracy theory - and true or not it is very entertaining.

Pak Jun Do is the haunted son of a lost mother - a singer “stolen” to Pyongyang - and an influential father who runs Long Tomorrows, a work camp for orphans. There the boy is given his first taste of power, picking which orphans eat first and which will be lent out for manual labor. Recognized for his loyalty and keen instincts, Jun Do comes to the attention of superiors in the state, rises in the ranks, and starts on a road from which there will be no return.

Would you consider the audio edition of The Orphan Master's Son to be better than the print version?

There are 3 narrators to this book and each is told by a different reader which helps so much. I love it when audio books do that! This book is crazy (in a good way). It leaves you with a heavy feeling because this isn't a book about something that happened long ago - this book is about a country that is existing like this now. Crazy. Its a must listen to book.

Full of beautiful, heart-wrenching, and hilarious stories, A Million Miles in a Thousand Years details one man's opportunity to edit his life as if her were a character in a movie. Years after writing his best-selling memoir, Donald Miller went into a funk and spent months sleeping in and avoiding his publisher. One story had ended, and Don was unsure how to start another.

Is there anything you would change about this book?

I don't know how I feel when an author reads his/her own book. Some people can pull it off, but others - it is almost like they come across cocky. I feel like this book started out strong but then it ended up being disappointing. It seems everytime someone has something sad to overcome (although in this guy's case it was not that sad) they go and try and save the world or hike a big mountain and then write a book about it - how they are not all knowing and at peace with the world.

What did you love best about The Forgotten Garden?

This is almost like an adult fairy tale...the reader's voice was perfect - could picture every scene in my mind like a movie. It was also a nice change of pace for me - no war, no history, no genocides...the book is sad for sure, but its just all over a good story.

The story begins in 1962. On a rocky patch of the sun-drenched Italian coastline, a young innkeeper, chest-deep in daydreams, looks out over the incandescent waters of the Ligurian Sea and spies an apparition: a tall, thin woman, a vision in white, approaching him on a boat. She is an actress, he soon learns, an American starlet, and she is dying. And the story begins again today, half a world away, when an elderly Italian man shows up on a movie studio's back lot - searching for the mysterious woman he last saw at his hotel decades earlier.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

This is a great book to listen to. The reader is so good and the story is so well written that I feel like I was watching a movie rather than listening to a book. I love that. I didn't give it 5 stars because it wasn't the best book I have ever read BUT it was a great book and definitely worth the purchase.

Though he battled for seven years to marry her, Henry is disenchanted with Anne Boleyn. She has failed to give him a son and her sharp intelligence and audacious will alienate his old friends and the noble families of England. When the discarded Katherine dies in exile from the court, Anne stands starkly exposed, the focus of gossip and malice. At a word from Henry, Thomas Cromwell is ready to bring her down.
