If I had been interested in Italian cooking and/or someone's personal opinion of Italian art I would have loved this book. I'm sure I did learn something from this, but I had hoped for a good story set in Italy. This book is written like a diary or a day to day account of events with no plot. I believe Frances Mayes is a very intelligent woman with lots of energy and a lust for life, but her narration is almost unbearable. Her voice is unpleasant and her pronunciation of Italian words is irritating. She seems bored and disconnected when reading the book. It was hard to keep listening.
No! Well, maybe a TV cooking show.
I really wanted to like the book because I am going to Italy soon, but it was so hard to finish listening to it.
I haven't read the print version
The detail of how Mitch and his accomplices ran their operations. Also, how David planned his mission. Part of the ending was unexpected.
This was my first.....loved him.
I did look forward to listening each day to the book to see what would happen next.
Trying to understand the different elements of the government and how they work together for the good (and sometimes detriment) of our country.
At some points I was on the edge of my seat....I was always interested in knowing what would happen next. Flynn keeps several stories going at once so the audience is always waiting to see what will happen next with different characters.
YES, same as other one......He's Fantastic!
When Mitch gets frustrated with political officials for worrying about the appearance of the administration instead of the people in the US.
Some well mannered British lady that's about 100 years old.
Not sure.....looking now.
No, but I enjoyed her performance..........just couldn't choke on the content any longer.
Any of them with their snobbish manners.
I wanted to get a feel for the Italian background and I didn't.
The way the author gave the characters background and showed the way human experiences can shape a persons character and personality. Enjoyed the analysis that "Dr. FiFi" gave of several characters and the way she handled her emotions and handled conflict.
When Ren and FiFi were in the vineyard before getting distracted.
I have not.
Not really, but I did enjoy it as a fun "get away" in my mind.
Kate Fleming did an excellent job of giving each character a vocal personality.
Lizbeth never gives up!
Lizbeth's hospital stay and Bloomkvist's genius plan!
Only Millennium Trilogy........really enjoyable.
YES!! Even did the Millennium Tour in Sweden since the author used real addresses for his characters. So much information!
Details! Details! Details!
Yes, the author puts you on a thrill ride throughout the book!
On Zalachenko's farm
So many details to draw you into the story and keep you in suspense.
Lizbeth getting her financial revenge.
yes to both. Lizbeth suffered so much mental and physical abuse.
Sure, it was entertaining!
I have only listened to the Twilight Series but I love her performances!!
I haven't read it, so I couldn't comment on this.
How Katniss was so perceptive and her instincts were dead on!
Many times!! The story was heartbreaking in so many ways, but the people made the best of their circumstances and their joy was my joy while listening.
Highly Ranked....I listen to a lots of books.
Obviously the Hunger Games and Mockingjay. I couldn't wait to hear what happened next as I did in the "Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" series.
She is terrific! Her voice is thoughtful which makes you feel as if you are inside the head of Katniss.
Sure, I laughed and cried at times. Even though the book is fiction, there is something stinging about the story that makes you feel like this could be a reality.
