I couldn't even finish this one. The stories are fine but the narration is awful. The guy uses the same inflection pattern over and over for every line of each character. He talks like he's running out of tape on the recorder. No puses between thoughts or character transitions. He reads the stories like they are one long run-on sentence. After a while all I could hear was blah, blah, blah. Don't waste your money on this one.
I don't know. I liked the story but the narration was awful. I don't know if he actually read it like this or if it was edited after the fact but he goes so fast, no pauses even at the end of chapters, and every sentence sounds the same. If I got distracted for even five seconds we would be in a completely different location and time in the story listening to different characters. You couldn't tell because he reads like one big run on sentence.
Given the choice, no. I really want to listen to the next book in the series though and he's the reader. I guess I'll tough it out for one more book and then enjoy the new readers for the rest of the series,
I really enjoyed this one. It is certainly not Grisham's best but still a good book. I've really got to tip my hat to Michael Beck on this one, though. His incredible narration made a good book really great. A truly brilliant performance!
