Very informative and uplifting. It is pleasantly read and hopefully will hold your interest as it did mine. I enjoy listening to it over and over again as one cannot absorb all it's content in listening to it just once. Every time I play it I learn something new or something that I forgot or just slipped my mind. This book is for anyone who believes their life can change for the better.

When he learns she's been abandoned by her cad of a fiancé, he finds himself offering a shoulder for her to cry on. Comfort soon turns into a passionate kiss—and scandal when they are caught in an embrace.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

NO. Story lack excitement and was very flat., Not much excitement between the characters. Lead female character was unimpressive and dull. No good humor or wit about her at all. Male lead character was better but story was uneventful and boring. The narrator was superb and listening to her read the book was the only way I got trough to the end. More authors should have Rosalyn Landor read their books. Fabulous narrator.

Would you recommend Ruined by Rumor to your friends? Why or why not?

no for the same reasons stated above. Boring

What does Rosalyn Landor bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Ms. Landor's reading as well as the way she does so many different voice overs is quite amazing. It makes even the worst books a pleasure to listen too. Each character has a different and very distinct voice of their own which can get one through to the end of a boring book. I don't know how she does it but she does it so well.I am going to purchase books that are exclusively read by Ms. Landor any time that I can. She is quite amazing and can make the most boring book come to life.

What would have made this romance irresistible?

More humor, openness and honesty between the characters. Saying what they feel and not keeping it to themselves. Some intrigue and excitement.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

No, It was not time well spent I could barely listen to it because of the narrator's make over voices. The men sounded sick and like grumpy old men and the ladies sounded like little girls and what's the whispering all about.Poorly done..Miss Garwood should only use Rosalyn Landor or perhaps Anne Flosnik or other narrators of their caliber to read her wonderful books. Whoever is reading this review please compare two other books by JG "The Bride" and "Shadow Music" and you will see what I mean.

What other book might you compare Ransom to and why?

The only other book I listened to by Susan Duerden was The Lions Lady and that also was a good story but POORLY betrayed by the narrator. Two I highly recommend are:"The Bride" and "Shadow Music". Two of JG's best and extremely well read by Rosalyn Landor.

Would you be willing to try another one of Susan Duerden’s performances?

NEVER, I listened to two read by her and both were horrible.

What would have made this romance irresistible?

The story was great but the narrator did not do the characters justice.

    Any additional comments?

Please Miss JG pay close attention to Whom you get to read your books..

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

Julie Garwood's books are always good although sometimes important details to the story line are overlooked. However, it's the narrator that destroyed the listening pleasure.
I would not recommend this book because of the narrator.

Would you be willing to try another book from Julie Garwood? Why or why not?

I have all of JG's books. The Bride and Shadow Music are two of my favorites. They are both narrated by Rosalyn Landor who is my favorite narrator.and In my opinion no one could compare to her. When I purchase Audio books I first search for books that are read only by her and then I go from there. I still purchase books that are read by other narrators but they cannot compare to RL. She is the "best" narrator ever. All others are slightly bearable or intolerable altogether.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Susan Duerden?

    Rosalyn Landor

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

    disappointment

    Any additional comments?

Story was fair but some important details of the story were left out.

Would you listen to Shadow Music again? Why?

I have listened to Shadow Music several times and I still don't know how Rosalyn Landor did all the voice overs. Terrific, very well done and extremely entertaining.
The story is very unique, interesting and different from anything I have listened to before.

Who was your favorite character and why?

The two lead Characters of course.

Have you listened to any of Rosalyn Landor’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Rosalyn Landor never disappoints me. She holds the listeners interest and makes the story and all the characters come alive.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It made me feel good and that's why I have listened to it several times and will do so again.
Wish Judy Garwood would write more books like this one..

    Any additional comments?

It would be wonderful if Judy G. would hire Rosalyn L. to read all her books.

Was not enjoyable to listen to

Where does The Bride rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This audio book is by far one of my favorites. The narrator is splendid and captures the essence of all the characters. The story is light, delightful and holds your interest until the. very end. I thought it was a great listen.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Jamie, she was a sweet, loving and very strong and a delightfully funny women who does things her way in the "nicest" way.

What does Rosalyn Landor bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She brings the characters to life, I'm not sure if she did all the voice overs of each character because they all sounded so differently. If she did then she is remarkable.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The whole book was delightful. A fairy tale for sure but one that was very interesting and done very well. It takes the reader to another place and time and sometimes we need that in our lives. Great Book and Narrator.

    Any additional comments?

I have listened to most of Julie Garwood's books and this book along with Shadow Music and The Prize are a few of my favorites. I wish Ms. Garwood would write more books as the ones I mentioned above. I'm not sure the author's listen to their books after they are made into Audio Books but If Ms. Garwood listen's to the particular books I mentioned she will know what I mean..
