I've been reading this series for years now and enjoyed it greatly, though I do hope it comes to an end soon. This production is very good especially as it is an Unabridged version which I believe the books need. The two voices are good and give a good range to the characters, the only quibble I have is minor, I wish the two readers had agreed on pronunciations before starting. This is not a big issue and did not spoil my enjoyment. I believe the producers will be making all the books available and I look found to collecting them all.
This may have been a good compilation with some good tales. However, it is hard to tell because some or the vocal talents selected are absolutely awful. It is hard to build up a sense of tension when the voice delivers everything in such a monotone.
This book is classed as a children's novel. Don't let this put you off. At times the writing is fairly simple and the story is not overly complicated. Despite this the book is a very good listen, helped by the always wonderful vocal talents of Tim Curry. I just hope that Audible get round to making the rest of the series available
If you've ever read the book you'll know what to expect from this recording. My comments are more about the voice production. For the most part these are good, though some of the better voices seen underused. However, the woman who reads the part of Valetine is terrible, she removes all sense of caring from the role. Fortunately in this book this is a minor role, I just hope Audible never use her again as I would have to avoid her.
