This is a solid continuation of the Sookie Stackhouse story - although not my favourite. It still had me listening almost continuously & I find these stories are so much more satisfying than others of the genre. Johanna Parker's narration is a real treat too. I think I could listen to her read a shopping list.
I would listen to another book by Victor Hugo but not by Fredierick Davidson
I'd try another book by Victor Hugo because he is a classic writer - you don't stay popular for hundreds of years for no reason and his books were written to be read out loud.
I would cast a narrator who is skilled in multiple voices and characters. This narrator has a limited range of expression and often sounded haughty and aloof. This did not engage me or help me to empathise with the characters.
Oh no! No follow-up book! 57 hour is long enough for one story. Anyway, the author is dead.
I was not familiar with many of the French terms, geography or history, which affected my understanding. This book may have been better for me to read.
I was so excited when I found this book because I loved Nancy Thayer's early works. What a disappointment! This is just chick-lit for the menopausal.
This is one of my favourite Sookie sagas. It's a move away from the vampires & into other supernaturals. Johanna Parker is the best narrator too & really adds to the enjoyment.
This is my favourite Sookie Stackhouse book so far. More great characters from the supernatural .... and a starring role for Eric!
I can't separate these stories from the great narration by Johanna Parker. She really makes the characters live.
What a great, fun listen! The mythology is great, characters are very likeable and the plot keeps you interested until the end. For those who have watched True Blood, the books are quite different. Certainly too raunchy for teens but a great adult read.
