No. I enjoyed it although the Christie stories without her main detectives are not my favorites.
Agatha Christie is one of my favorite authors. I have listened to many of her books and will continue to do so. It is my comfort food listen.
Not very versatile
It could be turned into a TV episode with British actors.
The story feels dated but it is a quick listen. It is a mystery not a murder mystery. The lead chaRacter is standard Christie but pleasant enough. Recommended for diehard Christie fans.
I don't know. I think I would have enjoyed the print version but I have no regrets at choosing the audiobook.
I liked the interactions of the Pitt family--Thomas, Charlotte, Jemima and Daniel.
I liked many scenes. I enjoyed Pitt's and Narroway's separate investigations, getting to see the inner workings of Victorian households. I also enjoyed the courtroom scenes.
I listened to it in two days. I was intrigued and wanted to know how it would end.
Davina Porter was a good narrator for this material. I have one fault to find with Anne Perry's style. The inner monologues of the characters go on for way too long. It was also a bit difficult listening to a book about rape. However, I enjoy the series and read all the books.
I would put it in the top third. It is my favorite of the Richard Castle books.
The plot kept me involved and guessing. There are multiple crimes and suspects. I did not see the twists and turns coming.
Difficult question. I love all the scenes between Nikki and rook especially when they went to Paris. They have great banter. I also liked the scenes at the precinct.
I did laugh a few times.
These books are great companions to the Castle TV series. Also, Johnny Heller does a great job of narration.
I do not know. I think I would have enjoyed reading the print version.
The plot kept me involved. I liked the different story lines
Her voicing of Lindsay was good. I did not like Yuki's voice. The voice of one of the killers made my skin crawl. I liked Carolyn McCormick's narration better.
No extreme reaction. I thought the storyline with Lindsay's baby was poignant. Lindsay is my reason for following this series. I am not really interested in the other three woman.
Recommended only if you have followed the whole series.
I enjoyed the book but I probably won't listen to it again. I only listen to the Alex Delaware books once.
I don't have a specific moment to mention. I enjoyed the fact that there were two mysteries and two investigations. The characters--leads, suspects and witnesses--were unique characters.
I love John Rubenstein. I have seen him on stage and on TV. He makes Alex into a compelling character. He does all the voices well.
An old mystery and a new one--what happened to these babies?
This is one of the better Alex Delaware books. It is definitely worth a listen.
I did not Isla Blair. Her voice got on my nerves. The audio book would have been much more enjoyable without her.
I would have a different mix of short stories. I liked the Lonely God and the title story. I had just listened to the Poirot story in another collection. The Isle of Man story doesn't really make sense.
Hugh Fraser is a wonderful narrator. He made Mr. Satterthwaite and Harley Quin come alive. Simon Vance did a credible job as well.
I followed this book with listening to the Mysterious Mr. Quin. I think the Harley Quin stories work best if you listen to them together.
Not my favorite of the Agatha Christie short story collections. I would have preferred reading it to using a credit.
It is a charming, beautifully written story. I love the clever idea of writing about a man who can talk to the animals. The chapters are short and the narrative flows nicely. I couldn't wait to find out what happened next.
I would probably compare it to other children's classics such as Winnie the Pooh and Alice in Wonderland.
David Case does a terrific narration. He gives voice to Dr. Doolittle and well as a myriad of animals. I especially love Polynesia the parrot and Gub Gub the pig. While a child might love reading the book, I think an adult would prefer the audio version. It is a quick, easy read but I was sorry when it was over.
There is a film of this book starring Rex Harrison. It is one of my favorite movie musicals. It was interesting to find out where the inspiration for the screenplay came from. A lot of the book was put into the movie.
I think most children would enjoy this. I would also recommmend to adult's who enjoy children's literature and fans of the movie.
Interesting aristocratic history
I would compare it to the Anne Perry Victorian mysteries in have very distinct characters and settings. I enjoyed the Englishness of the books.
Since the book is about Lady Almina, she was my favorite . However, all the characters, even the minor ones were well written and interesting.
I listened to it while walking and while eating dinner. I finished the nook in three days.
Highly recommended if you like Downton Abbey. There is more insight into the upstairs/downstairs aspect of the story. Lady Almina was a fascinating woman and her life had lots of interesting episodes. One of the most enjoyable personal histories that I have listened to.
I would put it in the top third. I have listened to all of Anne Perry's Victorian books.
I would compare it to her other Christmas stories. This one has the interesting setting of British soldiers in India.
I liked the lead character Victor Narraway. I enjoyed seeing the investigation progress. Simon Prebble is an outstanding narrator so all the characters wete well done.
No. I just thoroughly enjoyed the story and looked forward to the next Anne Perry book.
I good choice for fans or a nice introduction to the author.
Alan Cumming's narration is wonderful.
No. It isn't a suspenseful story but it is intriguing.
I like when Sherlock Holmes makes his deductions about a hat.
No. I have read this story many times but I thoroughly enjoyed this verson.
It is a good story for people who like to read Christmas related stories whatever the season.
