Could you survive on your own, in the wild, with everyone out to make sure you don't live to see the morning? In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by 12 outlying districts. The Capitol is harsh and cruel and keeps the districts in line by forcing them all to send one boy and one girl between the ages of 12 and 18 to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV.

I don't rate books that often, yet I listen to 3 per month for 7 years. I base a lot of my downloads on these reviews and books others rate as good, bad or otherwise and felt it necessary to write something to help out. Here are a few that I didn't rate that may give you insight to my taste: Twilight - horriffic. Shadow Divers - All time favorite. Walk in the Woods - FUNNY and interesting. 1984 - slow but very thought provoking. Catch 22 - best narrated book on this site and FUNNY!! Dirty Job - second best narrated and FUNNY. Life of Pi - slow at first and didn't finish it for a year, second try LOVED it, stick it out and you will be rewarded. Ghost Soldiers - I found myself tearing up and wanting to cheer at the end. 11th month, 11th day, 11th hour - made me mad but a very good book. Matterhorn - good, but not the best war book. Hunger Games - very suprisingly entertaining. I reccomend it if you think like I do on the above list. It is NOT like the crap in the Twilight series (so far). I just downloaded the second book before finishing the first of this series. let me know if this helps you out.

  • Shadow Divers: Two Americans Who Risked Everything to Solve One of the Last Mysteries of WWII

    • UNABRIDGED (15 hrs and 31 mins)
    • By Robert Kurson

In 1991, acting on a tip from a local fisherman, two scuba divers discovered a sunken German U-boat, complete with its crew of 60 men, not too far off the New Jersey coast. The divers, realizing the momentousness of their discovery, began probing the mystery. Over the next six years, they became expert and well-traveled researchers, taught themselves German, hunted for clues in Germany, and constructed theories corrective of the history books, all in an effort to identify this sunken U-boat and its crew.

wow. Since reading this book I've recommended it to about 8 people and they actually thank me for telling them. I love non-fiction and this is simply amazing. Get it......and thank me later.

  • A Dirty Job

People start dropping dead around Charlie, giant ravens perch on his building, and it seems that everywhere he goes, a dark presence whispers to him from under the streets. Strange names start appearing on his nightstand notepad, and before he knows it, those people end up dead, too. Yup, it seems that Charlie Asher has been recruited for a new job, an unpleasant but utterly necessary one: Death.

    "my kind of book"

I have a tough sense of humor, not many books can even make me crack a smile. I was laughing out loud on the plane and in the car. The only other book that came close was “A Walk in The Woods”. Yes, there is vulgar language (I don’t care). It’s funny, funny, funny. The narrator is the best I’ve heard since Frank Muller (RIP ).

  • Twilight: The Twilight Saga, Book 1

    • UNABRIDGED (12 hrs and 55 mins)
    • By Stephenie Meyer

About three things I was certain. First, Edward was a vampire. Second, there was a part of him, and I didn't know how dominant that part might be, that thirsted for my blood. And third, I was unconditionally and irrevocably in love with him.

I've listened to hundreds of books and this one is at the bottom of the barrel. If the descriptions of how good looking and how in love were taken out, the book would be half an hour. I fell asleep for 2 hours and didn't miss a single thing. BORING & repetitive (10 to the 100th power). Poorly written soft porn is what comes to mind. SAVE YOUR TIME!!
