These novels have a little bit of something for everyone- they're good mysteries, they're an interesting look at the Roman Empire, and the main character is funny. Smart, but also light and entertaining. So far there has only been one book in the series I haven't absolutely loved.

She's a great narrator and I really like listening to her voice no matter which story she's reading, but I really love her performances in this series. She gives each character a really distinct personality that seems almost a perfect match to the way I would imagine them myself.

I really love this series. True Blood is fun, but the books are much more enjoyable for me. I really want to know what's going to happen with the characters. Every time there was a new installment I reread all the books and enjoyed them just as much as the first time. I agree that a lot of things about this final book were predictable and I would have liked to see a few more bits and pieces pulled into the story, but overall I was satisfied with the way Harris ended this series. She was very up front in saying that she was done with Sookie, and I think that was apparent in her writing. That's too bad, because I think fans would have followed Sookie a while longer- I certainly would have- but better to finish on her own terms with a story that does her characters justice. Thank you for a great series, Ms Harris.

This is one that I just couldn't put down. I kept wanting to know what was going to happen next. I really enjoyed this book and highly recommend it to mystery lovers.

Listened to this for my students' book club. I worked with inner-city kids at my previous school, so this book really resonated with me. I think this book should become part of the curriculum in high schools across America. It's a true story, written and narrated by the 4 friends who helped each other get through college. I like the authenticity, but you have to accept that it's not the perfectly crafted prose and melodious inflections of great writers and actors. I think the story is all the better for being the true voice of these 4 men. However, I will admit that even I had a little trouble keeping the 4 guys' stories straight, and I usually don't have any trouble following story lines that skip around. If you're looking for a book that gives a real picture of how difficult it can be for kids to succeed in today's world, but still has a happy ending, this is it. I really wish I had known about this book a few years ago when I taught at that other school- I'd definately have worked it into my classes.

Alexander McCall Smith is a wonderful author. I love all of his series. The great narration makes these books a fun listen, too. I highly recommend all of his books.
