"Very slow and plodding narration"
Usually love Anne Tyler but this one was a little hard to get to the end of. Not a bad story but ends very abruptly as far as I'm concerned.
"A Bittersweet Read of Maeve's Final Book"
I thoroughly enjoyed this Binchy book, as I have every book she wrote. It was sad to think it would be the last one.
A Week in Winter follows a format that Bichy began a few years back: individual stories in chapters weaved together with a theme. It worked a little better - a little less forced - here than it has in some of the more recent ones.
"Great Story, Set in London During WWII Blitz"
Kate Morton has written an intricate plot that twists and turns as it bounces back and forth from London circa 1941 to 2011. It's nice and long , ~20 hours, for those that enjoy longer works.
Only 4 stars for performance because sometimes it was hard to tell which "character voice" the narrator was using.
"Wonderful Short Story for a 1 Hour Holiday Drive"
Used this for a quick trip 30 minutes out and finished on the way home. Adorable Christmas-themed story with wonderful narration. Thanks for the member gift Audible.
"Great Twists and Turns"
Complex story, with twists and turns you don't see coming. Well-written, intricate plot. Good performance, with male and female narrators.
"Have to Agree - Should have been Re-Recorded"
I rarely give up on listening to something I have purchased...but I did on this one. Story is mediocre and simplistic and the narration is distracting. Gave up after a couple of hours.
"Interesting Plot Twists"
Just when you think you've figured it out, the plot twists yet again. My only complaint on this selection is it is a bit short for a Booker winner. It is, however, an enjoyable listen.
"Nice background on the Author's motivation"
If you loved The Help, and how could you not, you'll enjoy this short piece by the author on how she came to write the novel.
