"Exciting first-hand account of historic mission!"
Awe-inspiring. I appreciate the author's detail of this mission and the importance he placed on giving everyone credit who helped carry out the mission. These Navy seals really arent the ego-maniacs that other "seal books" make them out to be. The seals in this book are true heroes.
Narration was solid.
"Astonishing biography!"
This life story of Marina Chapman is truly incredible and should be read by all followers of biography instead of pointless life-stories of rich celebrities.
While some small contradictions to her story did surface throughout the story forgiveness is given due to it occuring over 6 decades ago.
listen and enjoy!
"Riveting. Incredible. Heroic."
This is one of the last great un-heard stories of WWII. The author does an impressive job introducing us to the two main characters early on in the story and then proceeds to intertwine other characters and side stories while still maintaining the focus on the two pilots. I also liked to prespective from Germans against the Nazi party as WWII was ramping up.
This is a must listen to anyone who enjoyed Unbroken.
As always Robertson Dean's narration was spot on!
"Incredible true crime in SinCity!"
I grew up in and live in Vegas so I enjoyed this book for obvious reasons. As a local I remember these crimes that put terror in the hearts of those that live in this valley. Vegas is still a small city and so these crimes and killings hit home with a certain rawness.
John Huddy did excellent research in preparing for this gripping account and takes the listener on a wild ride through the Vegas suburbs as well as right down the strip and inside the world of big casino security.
The narrator also did a great job of moving the story right along. Something I always appreciate from a narrator.
"Tragic. Raw. Heart-Ripping!"
This story really is an insight into Sonali's slide into deep depression and how she tries and tries to let loved ones go. I most appreciated her candor and details of the tragic events which took the lives of her family and parents. This book (more than any other book ive read) allows the listener/reader to introspect on how they would handle such a tragedy. Would we be brave and strong? Would we give up? Would we be reminded every day of our loss by tiny daily things?
listen to this book with an open mind as to how you might deal with the unforseen.
"what else did God tell him????"
While I enjoyed Eben Alexander's account of his near death experience I was left wanting to know more of his time away from his body. he mentions God gave told him many secrets and knowledge but he didnt give us readers much more then "God is love"
but....maybe that is all we need to know.
im still touched by his account of his personal doubts and skepticism before his NDE. He is also a decent narrator for his first attempt
"The foremost biography on Brigham Young!"
Ive read many books on BY and most are either subjective or slanted for or against the mormon church. This book delivers the good/bad of an important man in american history without an angle. Turner researched his subject more extensively than any other author of a religious leader since Bushman. This Bio is on par with Rough Stone Rolling and i believe it will be the formeost biography on Young
"incredible story of survival but......."
while this book is an incredible story i have 2 complaints.
1) the story jumps around too much and is hard to follow.
2) the british narration falls flat and gets annoying after an hour or so into it.
"Science lover's dream"
Fabulous listen for anyone interesed in forensic science. Meaningful, insightful and useful information delivered in a descriptive manner. Narration was distracting as the narrator had what sounded like a irish accent being covered up.
"Killing Pablo PART 2"
If you liked Mark Bowden's book KILLING PABLO you will love this book. Written by the brother of Pablo Escobar this book glamorizes the drug kinkpin's lavish lifestyle and dark crimes. I liked the insights into the cocaine market and how they transported and distributed the drug into America. WHo knows if this guy's account is really true?
