  • The Town Tamer

    • UNABRIDGED (7 hrs and 7 mins)
    • By Dusty Rhodes
    • Narrated By Don Ranson

J.C. Holderfield brought law and order to the lawless frontier of Texas in the mid-eighteen hundreds and became known far and wide as “The Town Tamer.” His reputation for cleaning up a town was backed up by his fast gun and made him sought after by the law-abiding citizens and feared by those that would prey on them.

Jean says: "A great story of building the west"
    "Westerns are my thing."
What made the experience of listening to The Town Tamer the most enjoyable?

The story, action and plot was outstanding in my opinion. Mr. Rhodes wrote a fine novel which was to my taste in this story. The main character was quiet a character. I looked forwarded each night before I retired to listing again to a few chapters, but I did not want to put my Kindle away. His story kept my instrest from begining to end. I would purchace other books by him and be quiet assured that I would be satisfied with them.

What other book might you compare The Town Tamer to and why?

I have not found such a book on the same line dealing with such a charcter as his (J. C. Holderfied) and the accomplishments he had for such a young boy.

What about Don Ranson’s performance did you like?

I was very inpressed with MrRanson's naration of this novel. For his adaption of voice's I must say he did more than a good job. He narated voice's for quiet a few characters and was good at it. I was most impressed at how he never mixed up voice's for each. He appeard to have a deep voice, but he could change it to each and remember how each sounded never forgetting who was whom. Kudos to him for a job well done.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I was moved by the way he treated his love one and put her above all.

    Any additional comments?

Even though Mr. Ranson did a nice job I believe the audio would have been much inproved with the right sex speaking the naration. That is why I gave this book only 4 star rating.

  • A Little Night Magic

    • UNABRIDGED (8 hrs and 4 mins)
    • By Lucy March
    • Narrated By Amanda Ronconi
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Olivia Kiskey needs a change. She’s been working at the same Nodaway Falls, New York, waffle house since she was a teenager; not a lot of upward mobility there. She’s been in love with Tobias, the cook, for the last four years; he's never made a move. Intent on shaking things up, Olivia puts her house on the market, buys a one-way ticket to Europe, and announces her plans to her friends - but then she meets Davina Granville, a strange and mystical Southern woman....

Elizabeth says: "Not quite Molly Harper, but not bad.."
    "A Little Night Magic"
What did you like best about A Little Night Magic? What did you like least?

    Like about this book, nothing.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

It needed to have a more reasonable story. I was disapointed in this book.

What aspect of Amanda Ronconi’s performance would you have changed?

The narator Ms Roconi would possablly make her readng more interesting if her characters would (as well as other books I have listened to) have more persons read other characters involed lines to make it more interesting. An example men read men and women read women's lines. I was not inpressed with with her trying to read all parts.

Was A Little Night Magic worth the listening time?

    Any additional comments?

Ms March needs to write books a little more realistic. It took me only about 15 minutes after her friend introducing magic came into the picture at the resturant ( sorry I read it a bit ago and do not remember the name) to figure who was the villian. I thought this story was a little too far fetched. I did give her the benefit of the doubt just to see if the story would have a beliveable plot. I do not believe I will waste my money and time with any more of her novels read by her or writen by Ms March.
