This story was at once funny, tragic, silly and heartwarming. The reading was perfect. I would recommend this to anyone who appreciates understanding about our fellow humans.
This was a fresh take on a "who done it". I enjoyed the entire story line and characters. The reader is one of the very best out there and I was not disappointed by his perforamnce of this. As is so often the case with mysteries, everything seems to go along making sense, until it is time to pull it all together and people start doing things way out of character or that they just wouldn't do. This is the case with Nightbird. I kept my rating low because the book was so long. Who cares what color pants every guy in the room is wearing? Not me.
A little more than half way through this my husband said he had it figured out. He was WAY off. This story is well read and has a nice story line. Good set up for future books. The only thing that kept me from giving it the highest marks is that it was really one long series of interviews. That in itself is not that interesting.
This was a good story. Well written, and well read. Painted a good picture without dragging on. Had some good twists.
I thought this was OK. The weird sighs and mouth noises from the reader didn't bother me as much as it did some people, but they were noticeable. The main character was a believable, lovable guy. The whole thing was just OK. Not great, not awful. I probably won't pursue the series.
This was released in pieces for a regular publication. To that end sometimes the author seemed to be trying to make a word quota for the week. I found myself yelling "OK, she's beautiful, we get it." After getting well into it that seemed to ease up and I was compelled to finish the book. The story had plenty of depth and plot. The readers were fantastic, carried the story well.
This was a between book for me. Between heavy old English lit and a biographical story. I would call this chick lit and fun. The author did a good job with an unusual style of story telling. I would recommend this for light "reading".
Just finished this captivating story and I am very thankful for all that praised it. It was well written, and very well read. The way the details were laid out made the drama of the story very real. There are no slow or boring parts. I found myself looking at maps and trying to figure out where they were. The fact that it happened so long ago makes it even more intense. We found ourselves wondering if people today could endure such a journey. I highly recommend this book.
This was a fun listen. I am even going through it a second time with my husband and it is funnier with two people to share the laughs. Great for staying awake on a late night drive. It is well read with great voices.
I enjoyed the way the author worked around so many moral values in this novel. Thought provoking in terms of right, wrong, love, devotion, God, and humanity. The setting was perfect for this story and the passion was moving. I will probably listen to this again some time to get the full value of the story.
Nothing deep or thought provoking here. It was a fun fantasy. I enjoyed it as a light listen, it moved along and was a great break between more serious novels. I would recommend this for fun.
