  • Killing Floor

    • UNABRIDGED (15 hrs and 23 mins)
    • By Lee Child
    • Narrated By Dick Hill
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

All is not well in Margrave, Georgia. The sleepy, forgotten town hasn't seen a crime in decades, but within the span of three days it witnesses events that leave everyone stunned. An unidentified man is found beaten and shot to death on a lonely country road.

Ed says: "Comic book tough guy"
    "Another Great"

Just when I was starting to think I had run out good books to listen to, I disocvered Lee Child.
Though the main character is a bit rough around the edges, that's part of his charm & what makes this book a good one.
Its certainly not for the faint of heart but if you enjoy a twisting plot with some interesting character development then this is well worth the listen.
I am looking forward to the rest of the them.

  • No Fortunate Son

    • UNABRIDGED (13 hrs and 16 mins)
    • By Brad Taylor
    • Narrated By Henry Strozier, Rich Orlow

When veteran operator Pike Logan and partner Jennifer Cahill receive a letter from Blaisdell Consulting - the umbrella cover company for their real employer, a top secret counterterrorist unit called the Taskforce - they expect orders for their next mission-impossible tasking. Instead, they learn that their latest actions have gotten them fired, despite having saved thousands of innocent lives. Pike's shock and fury is redirected when their commander Colonel Kurt Hale asks him and Jennifer for help with a personal matter.

    M. Sterkel says: "Great listen"
    "Great find"

I got this as a pre-order, not realizing it was part of a series,,,I am now very excited to listen to the rest of them. Great story with sub-plots, a nice mix of politics & military moves. The narrators are awesome. Interesting characters just top this one for me.
I have already recommended this to a friend.

  • Crush: A Karen Vail Novel

    • UNABRIDGED (12 hrs and 22 mins)
    • By Alan Jacobson
    • Narrated By Tish Hicks

Heroine and renowned FBI profiler Karen Vail returns in an explosive thriller set against the backdrop of California's wine country. Hoping to find solace from the demons that haunt her, Vail makes her first trip to the Napa Valley. But shortly after arriving, a victim is found in the deepest reaches of an exclusive wine cave, the work of an extraordinarily unpredictable serial killer.

    Jeri says: "loved it"
"Looking forward to the next one"

I liked the 7th Victim enough to give this one & try...and now I am regretting being out of credits so I can't get the third book right away. Yes, the main character is flawed, but aren't we all? I find her to be more enjoyable by not being perfect.
I agree the narrator can be a little flat at times but still the storyline is good.
I found this to be a good listen overall & eagerly await getting the next one.

  • Moon Called: Mercy Thompson, Book 1

    • UNABRIDGED (9 hrs and 14 mins)
    • By Patricia Briggs
    • Narrated By Lorelei King
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Mercy Thompson's life is not exactly normal. Her next-door neighbor is a werewolf. Her former boss is a gremlin. And she's fixing a VW bus for a vampire. But then, Mercy isn't exactly normal herself.

Susan says: "I love this series.."
"A First but not my last"

I decided to take a chance on this book when it was in a sale recently. I was not disappointed & have started reading the Alpha & Omega ones as well.
I usually don't read or listen to these types of books though I have been a huge fan of Jim Butcher's for some time.
Great discovery & I do like the narrator.
Looking forward to the next one.

  • Hold Tight

    • UNABRIDGED (12 hrs and 3 mins)
    • By Harlan Coben
    • Narrated By Scott Brick
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Tia and Mike Baye never imagined they'd become the type of overprotective parents who spy on their kids. But their 16-year-old son, Adam, has been unusually distant lately, and after the suicide of his classmate, Spencer Hill they can't help but worry. They install a sophisticated spy program on Adam's computer, and within days they are jolted by a message from an unknown correspondent addressed to their son: "Just stay quiet and all safe."

Meanwhile, Betsy Hill is struck by a photo that appears to have been taken on the night of her son's death...and he wasn't alone.

Ed says: "Will hold your interest till the end"
    "Another Coben Great"

I remember reading Coben's "Tell No One" & I was so hooked on it...the same here.
He has the great gift to make random events all come together in a way you just didn't see coming.
All I can say is "WOW" & bring on the next one.

  • The Killing Hour

    • UNABRIDGED (11 hrs and 49 mins)
    • By Lisa Gardner
    • Narrated By Anna Fields

A serial killer watches and waits. Each time, he takes two victims, preparing the first's body with all the clues the police need to find the second, who is still alive. The clock ticks, and the second one can still be saved. But the police never make it in time. The second one dies. For years, the killer has plagued the city with the same pattern, but the police never pick up on it quickly enough.

Mina Brown says: "Captivating--it hooks you!"
    "Found another good one"

I have been listening to books for quite some time so it is nice when you discover a different author to listen to.
Having lived in VA for nearly 15 yrs, I was impressed with the reality of this book.
Great story line that kept you guessing almost to the end.
