"Funny as Hell"
I'd never heard of Susie Bright but after this I'm a convert ,this is a wired collection of clippings Susie wrote for a magazine she wrote with a group of friends call on her back ,I could listen to her all day her frankness about sex is refreshing and thrilling, she's funny and honest and just a joy to my ears.
"Not for me"
I really don't have any right to give this a review because I couldn't get past the first couple of chapters I really tried but I'm not shore if its the narrator telling a bad story or a bad story tripping up a narrator to be honest there both clunky and boring ,I wont say go nuts but maybe your threshold is better than mine,I say listen to the sample and make up your own mind.
"Steamy punk"
There are some good and steamy tails here ,if corsets and machines that buzz for all the right reasons is your thing than this collection should not disappoint.
"maybe its me"
Maybe its me but this particular tale of Miss Fisher saying goodbye to the thirties by way of a very extravagant party left me felling a little well board, believe me it kills me to say this, there wasn't a whole lot action in this tale and it was all just a bit bah .Lots of parlor games painfully explained and god help me our narrator Stephanie Daniel as always doing a bang up job but the singing just drives me batty. If your a fan maybe it will be for you but if this is your fist Miss fisher start somewhere else or I fear you'll be put of forever. That would be a shame.
"not enough variety"
variety is (they say) the spice of life unfortunately this is as bland as a bad tie,the narrator cant settle on an accent and the stories them self's felt repetitive. As a steam punk fan I personally felt cheated by this collection.
"Smoke and mirrors"
It's happened and it's terrible I didn't like this one ,I know you are all shouting at your screen "how is that possible " but it is never the less true ,this tale is set in theater ,where the titles play is read constantly and sung, I love this narrator but singing is not her forte and I started finding it quite annoying ,I would never say don't read these books but just be warned ."on the plus side we are introduced to Miss Fishers Chinese gentleman friend about time.
"clowing around"
We find our heroin ,under the big top of a struggling circus, board with her mundane life she gives up the maids and a soft bed for the rugged and harsh circus grounds ,were she is tested socially and psychically finding solace in the arms of a sad clown. There is a lot of swearing in this thanks to the very lovable lizard Elsy ,I only mention in case this turns you away from the ever entertaining Miss Fisher, which would be a great pity.
"Addictive"
My drug of choice is officially Kerry Greenwood ,I adore this amazing blast from the past.
I want every thing this woman has written ,books ,grocery lists ,reminder notes I don't care, I'm sure no matter the content they will all be witty and cutting in there intelligence's ,I cant get enough I will be starting a support group for all who suffer such as I do.Hats way off to Stephanie Daniel she is superb.
"The Bees Knees"
A tale of murder most fowl ,lucky Miss Fisher outstanding lady detective is on the
case ,never rattled by the horror of a found battered body Miss fisher takes all in stride. I enjoy the humor and and the care and detail to the world and the foke that inhabit these pages ,Stephanie Daniel dose an absolutely superb job at giving each and everyone a personally, I hope you get as much joy out of this as I did.
"Smashing"
This was a treat to my ears ,Miss Fisher lady detective is witty and timeless ,her constant composed manner delighted me to no end ,she is a wonderful charterer surrounded by warm and generous cast of friends, all spoken with love by the out standing narrator.I plan on reading all of them with in the near future.
"Is what it is"
There's nothing spectacular about this, it is what it is a trashy romance ,not that theirs anything wrong with trashy romances ,sometimes that's just what you require if that's what you want than this shouldn't disappoint.
