"NO!"
I brought this drivel based on liking another title written by this author apparently that was a fluke given this sexist load of crap would not stand out in Sam Peckinpah's book shelf, but having said that if sexist boring tales of a range owner dose it for you go nut's.
If I have not persuaded you not to touch this with a ten foot pole the narrator is terrible her whole rhythm is of she sounds like she's reading the six o clock news please don't waste your time or your money.
"not enough variety"
variety is (they say) the spice of life unfortunately this is as bland as a bad tie,the narrator cant settle on an accent and the stories them self's felt repetitive. As a steam punk fan I personally felt cheated by this collection.
"Smoke and mirrors"
It's happened and it's terrible I didn't like this one ,I know you are all shouting at your screen "how is that possible " but it is never the less true ,this tale is set in theater ,where the titles play is read constantly and sung, I love this narrator but singing is not her forte and I started finding it quite annoying ,I would never say don't read these books but just be warned ."on the plus side we are introduced to Miss Fishers Chinese gentleman friend about time.
"clowing around"
We find our heroin ,under the big top of a struggling circus, board with her mundane life she gives up the maids and a soft bed for the rugged and harsh circus grounds ,were she is tested socially and psychically finding solace in the arms of a sad clown. There is a lot of swearing in this thanks to the very lovable lizard Elsy ,I only mention in case this turns you away from the ever entertaining Miss Fisher, which would be a great pity.
"Addictive"
My drug of choice is officially Kerry Greenwood ,I adore this amazing blast from the past.
I want every thing this woman has written ,books ,grocery lists ,reminder notes I don't care, I'm sure no matter the content they will all be witty and cutting in there intelligence's ,I cant get enough I will be starting a support group for all who suffer such as I do.Hats way off to Stephanie Daniel she is superb.
"The Bees Knees"
A tale of murder most fowl ,lucky Miss Fisher outstanding lady detective is on the
case ,never rattled by the horror of a found battered body Miss fisher takes all in stride. I enjoy the humor and and the care and detail to the world and the foke that inhabit these pages ,Stephanie Daniel dose an absolutely superb job at giving each and everyone a personally, I hope you get as much joy out of this as I did.
"Smashing"
This was a treat to my ears ,Miss Fisher lady detective is witty and timeless ,her constant composed manner delighted me to no end ,she is a wonderful charterer surrounded by warm and generous cast of friends, all spoken with love by the out standing narrator.I plan on reading all of them with in the near future.
"Is what it is"
There's nothing spectacular about this, it is what it is a trashy romance ,not that theirs anything wrong with trashy romances ,sometimes that's just what you require if that's what you want than this shouldn't disappoint.
"something for everyone I think"
Not all these stories tickled my fancy ,in fact most of the stories left me cold ,I don't know maybe it's me ,in my opinion there are much better and much hotter collections for this kind of erotica, but having said that ,this collection might blow your mind and do it for you on every level sorry I cant be more helpful.
"Perfect Balance"
A fellow reviewer had said that bitter sweet was a perfect title for this story and they where spot on .
This is a book of constant contrasts ,I find myself still thinking about the people that inhabited the pages wondering what there doing now, they touched me on a deep level not only in a touching way but also in a traumatic way ,this is seamlessly well made and very well told every detail is laid out unashamed and un flinching ,something I found confuting and joyful mostly in the same sentence. This is a harsh tale set in a harsh land ,and at times I found it hard to hear ,If your after a fluffy romance ,skip this if your after a realistic poetic and raw experience this is for you .( have the tissues on hand).
"Good take"
I always thought as fairy's as creatures at the bottom of your garden, but in this wicked offering the world of fairy is anything but sweet and gentle in fact these mischief's and some times cruel foke make our heroins life a misery . I found this refreshing and quietly strong in it's narrative, something of which I found quit likeable I never thought I'd like a book about fairy's but I did and this led me to other novels that I have also enjoyed so,for a good heroin who finds her true self and a bunch of pissed of far foke I say go crazy.
